Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
My journey began at birth, and for nearly 40 years, I have lived a life rich in experience and diversity. From my roots as a St. Louisan singer and performer to being a teen mom navigating military life, to a second stint in professional entertainment in Hawaii, to a hairstylist in various places, and now, a Master’s student and business owner.
People often call me a “Jack of all trades” and ask, “Is there anything you don’t do?” While I take these as compliments, the truth is, I am a hard worker by nature. My drive to excel in everything I undertake has seen me through singing competitions, raising a newborn while my husband was out to sea, single motherhood post-divorce, and now, a blissful marriage to my best friend, blending our family of seven children and our beloved dog, Ned. Raised to believe that “No” and “Can’t” don’t exist in my dictionary, my family and support system have been my lifeline through life’s rollercoaster.
Why does this matter? Because through the myriad roles I’ve played in the first half of my life, one constant has remained: my unique gift of true empathy and divine, intuitive sight. Just four months shy of turning 40, I finally know what I want to be when I grow up.
I am a divine soul, connected to and existing with God/Creator/Spirit/One Consciousness. From my earliest memory as an 18-month-old, seeing everyone’s feet covered in a fog of color and hearing their thoughts, to encountering a different religion at 12 that helped me find self-acceptance, to seeing angels, demons, Spirit Guides, and departed loved ones. As a teen, this was hard to believe, but I endured. In my 20s, while raising kids in the military with my active-duty husband, I learned adaptability and developed an “I got this” attitude, seeking authenticity in my life. I found a spiritual teacher, studied, and became a Reiki Master, and now, a decade later, I am a business owner with my own Energy/Spiritual healing modality and a Master’s student aiming to become a licensed practicing counselor.
Today, I am happy, whole, and truly living, not just existing. Every experience has shaped me, leading me to this incredible place filled with gratitude and endless possibilities.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The journey has been far from smooth, but every challenge has shaped my resilience and strength.
As a child, being dismissed and told to ignore my experiences was confusing and hurtful, but it taught me to trust my inner voice, and I knew somewhere inside my developing mind and God-filled heart my family did not mean to hurt me. I felt only love in my family, always. How can you expect a parent to know how to address the fact that their child can see beyond the veil?
Surviving rape at seventeen led me through a dark period, but it also ignited a determination within me to reclaim my life and confidence on a healing journey I am still on currently.
Discovering my pregnancy as a first-year college student was overwhelming, and leaving my vocal performance program was heartbreaking, yet it marked the beginning of my journey into motherhood, teaching me the power of unconditional love and sacrifice.
Life in the military brought its own set of challenges, with missed family gatherings and the trials of young parenthood in a new state, but it also forged my adaptability and resilience.
The birth of my second child and the accompanying postpartum depression were deeply challenging, but the compassionate support from my OBGYN team reminded me of the importance of seeking help and breaking stigmas.
Though divorce was tumultuous, I am grateful every day for the positive co-parenting relationship I share with my ex-husband, showing that respect and cooperation can lead to harmony even after separation.
Enduring abuse in a romantic relationship was a devastating chapter after divorce, but it ultimately led to a crucial turning point. With the loving intervention of my family and my own determination, I found the strength to rebuild and heal, becoming a better parent for my children and person for myself.
The birth of my youngest child brought joy, but also highlighted my struggle with postpartum depression and alcohol. Quitting drinking nearly two years ago has been one of the most transformative decisions of my life, leading to renewed health and self-love.
Blending families has been an incredibly challenging yet rewarding experience. Despite the difficulties, it has taught me patience, empathy, and the power of healing. Today, I cherish the journey and the growth it has brought to all of us.
In all its complexity, life is truly good, and I have an abundance of gratitude for the strength, love, and resilience that have brought me to this point.
