Today we’d like to introduce you to Renee Reed
Hi Renee, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I was thinking of ways to build generational wealth for my family. During my research, I found that real estate has made more millionaires than any other investments with the lowest risk. I decided to take a leap of faith and withdraw money from my 401k plan and start a real estate investment business. I had no plans on becoming a real estate broker at all, but it was hard for me to find a good honest agent that was willing to work with small commission payout. I got my real estate license to eliminate the search for any agent and was able to use the systems to find investments. While starting my business I decided to help some people buy and sell real estate to make money to fund my investments and I fell in love! The joy that you get from helping others is with more than Gold! The time freedom I have gained leaving my nine to five to pursue a full-time business selling real estate is priceless!
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
There is nothing smooth about starting any business, especially a real estate business, or a real estate transaction! Every transaction is different and has its own challenges. You have to learn the market, municipality rules, transfer of deed rules, negotiation tactics, the contract, and so much more. Not only that. People don’t buy and sell real estate every day; if I want to earn a living wage you have to be disciplined enough to spend time working on getting new business every day! At the beginning, you don’t make much money and get very little support from friends and family! I was lucky in one aspect because my first client was my very best friend! This not true for most agents. Statistics have shown that 87% of new real estate agents drop out after the first year. I had adopted a motto of “where there is a will there is way”; if you are not resourceful you won’t last. I would say that what I struggled with the most is being consistent with my daily routine, keeping up with volume while still providing personalized service, and managing profits!
