Hi Trish, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
While it may seem that my story kicks off with being awarded “Best Social Media Presence” as my high school senior superlative in 2014, my journey actually began with the invaluable lessons I learned from my entrepreneurial parents. They instilled in me the core values of hard work, dedication, and continuous growth, which ultimately inspired me to find my niche in the professional world. In 2020, I curated a portfolio of successful content and social media initiatives from my corporate career and secured remote positions at multiple digital marketing agencies in Los Angeles. My time at these agencies allowed me to create a diverse range of content for industries spanning from cryptocurrency companies to beauty brands and public figures. This experience was instrumental in honing my ability to create authentic, engaging, and trending content for my clients.
In 2021, I launched The Trend Social LLC. In the first few years of running The Trend, I worked with notable businesses and professionals in St. Louis as a full-time social media manager. As a freelance social media manager, I realized I wanted to do more than offer temporary solutions – I wanted to coach and guide clients for long-term success in the digital world. I recognized that my clients possessed all the essential ingredients for success and I was determined to create a space where they could take full ownership of their digital brand with my support and insights along the way. This year, I introduced The Trendsetter Course, a guide to help brands with their social media presence. The launch of The Trendsetter Course in March reflects my commitment to empowering professionals in the digital world and signifies a significant milestone in The Trend Social’s journey of supporting small business owners and entrepreneurs, especially in the St. Louis area.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
There have been many twists and turns while building The Trend Social brand. I am very thankful for my first years in running The Trend. Each of my clients taught me something new. Each client had a different story, a different passion, and a different goal – resulting in completely different content. I learned that my clients have a passion for their business and understand the need to market on social media, but struggle to consistently create or post quality content efficiently. The Trend Social adapted to these client needs and created new services to teach business owners, entrepreneurs, or brand curators how to strategically and efficiently run their social media accounts.
One challenge of starting a social media agency is the novelty of the industry. Social media careers, spanning from influencers to managers, have the commonality of learning about this industry as we are creating it. The ability to offer digital products, services, and community has increased the importance of social media for businesses and users. To keep up with the various ways audiences are engaging, platforms are always evolving. I’ve learned that being a social media expert means being an expert in staying updated, as digital marketing is a fast-paced and quick-moving industry.
I have also learned that the only way to sustain any trend and create a long-lasting brand is by building a strong brand foundation and staying true to it. The apps and platforms will change, trends fade, and with AI – the world of digital marketing is changing at a rapid pace. By always continuing your education, investing in yourself, and staying true to your brand voice, your brand will always stand out among the rest.
