Hi Ebony, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started my travel journey as a flight attendant in 2014 for 5 years. In that time I went on plenty of very budget friendly trips on my very low income. I took a break and then started my travel business in 2021. At first, the plan was to give travel advice and show people around the world how travel on a budget. I would sell cool travel themed t-shirts and give advice on Tiktok. Well, followers liked my advice so much that they said, “I want to take a trip with you!” So, that is what I did. I created trips for people that were tired of waiting on their family and friends to travel with. I have heard so many stories of individuals waiting around their whole lives to experience places. They possibly wait till after raising their children or simply putting it in the “dream” category. Not on my watch! I was determined to create a platform and opportunity for introverts and empty nesters to enjoy life and not alone! In just 2 and a half years, I have created and hosted up to almost 20 trips with hundreds of travelers and dozens of repeat travelers. We have gone to places including Dubai twice, Thailand, Puerto Rico, Cancun, Zanzibar and more! I even have a trip to Ghana coming this December 2025 that travelers can still join. Today, I simply am wanting to get the point across that life is meant to be lived. And if you are tired of waiting for people you DO know, then you can join with people that you DON’T know and meet your new travel buddies. The world is meant to be seen through your own eyes and not through just dreams via social media.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
For the most part, it has been pretty good. Some of the minor struggles have been trying to get people out of their own way and out of their comfort zone. Some people may not understand traveling and expect everywhere to be just like at home. They tend to complain about small things instead enjoying the moment of being elsewhere. Experiencing a different culture is amazing and you have to be open to it! Not everyone will be pleased and sometimes that can be a struggle when trying to please the majority. Although that was very small, people are usually pretty open and receptive to each other and beautiful bonds are created.
As you know, we’re big fans of I Take Trips With Ebony. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
I am a travel expert in all things travel! I specialize in organizing and hosting group trips for introverts and empty nesters who are looking for community. People know me as creating a welcoming environment for individuals because I understand the mind of a solo traveler just wanting to get away and not be alone most of the time. By that, I don’t load up their itinerary full of activities. I still leave room for leisure and enjoying their alone time. My most proud moments are when I initially hear how nervous some are to join, and they leap out on faith joining anyway. Then I notice on the trip how engaging and comfortable they are around the other travelers. It is amazing because it like seeing your babies grow up! It gives the feeling of accomplishment. I am proud of the ones that step out of their comfort zone because I know that without my invitation and platform, they would have never experienced this moment. I want readers to know that I am passionate about people feeling seen and enjoying life to the fullest. When I see that I made a difference in someone’s life by providing an escape from their work life, and they can relax, finally; that is my biggest joy!
Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
What makes me happy is seeing the look on my travelers’ faces and knowing that I had something to do with it being there. As a person who just wants to belong to something because this can be a lonely place, I understand the mindset of not being seen. It makes me happy to SEE others. Make them smile and make memories is my ultimate joy.
