Today we’d like to introduce you to Grace Leon.
Grace, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I grew up playing sports and loved being active. In high school, I got into going to the gym and nutrition. I saw the changes that I could make through eating and moving my body and loved how it made me feel. In college, I started working at a gym & everyone did bodybuilding competitions. I started getting into this lifestyle. Working out all the time, tracking what I am eating & very into how my body physically looked. Long story short…I ended up dealing with a lot of hormone issues, gut issues & body image. I let my physical well-being take over my life & it was the only thing I focused on. All I wanted to do was workout & look a certain way.
After three years of putting my body through this, I walked into my first true yoga class. I remember getting into Childs pose and crying. I felt this wave of release. After that class, I knew I needed to dive deeper into yoga. This was the start of my holistic health path. I started focusing more on the mind-body connection, slowing down and learning to listen to my body. I stopped tracking my food, pushing my body to the limit & only focusing on being skinny. I focused more on how my body felt, my stress reduction & eating foods that made me feel good without deprivation. I went to Bali for a month to study yoga.
I now continue to use this approach with my clients & anyone interested in bettering their health. Helping individuals to not only work on their physical health but also other aspects of their wellbeing. I love helping others find their own unique mind-body connection & watch them be able to tap into their own unique abilities.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I struggled a lot with body image at the start. I felt like in order to be successful and fit in this industry, I needed to look a certain way. After years of self-development & inner work, I accept and love my body for what it is each day. I still have some days I look in the mirror and don’t love what I see, but overall I don’t believe I have to be certain weight or size to be worthy.
We’ve been impressed with Mind, Body & Grace Coaching, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I have developed this brand & business over the last few years. It is more than just personal training & yoga. There is an aspect of self-development & inner work that I incorporate into my clients. I don’t just want to be another personal trainer who helps people lose weight. I believe that we are all unique and we have to find balance within our own lives. What works for one person isn’t going to work for the next.
I love incorporate aspects of holistic wellness such as breathwork, gut health, sleep hygiene & other areas into people’s day to day routines. Finding a daily routine will help an individual ultimately live their best life & FEEL their best everyday.
I offer one on one coaching sessions, personal training, yoga & breathwork
So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
Love for self & love for others.
This is not romantic, hearts and lovey all the time. This is truly seeing ourselves and others through the eyes of love. When we start with love for our self, we truly take care of ourselves everyday and do what is best for us. When we do this for ourselves, it overflows for others. We show up everyday with unconditional love for all.
