Today we’d like to introduce you to Kamia Kindle
Hi Kamia, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
My journey into entrepreneurship started way back when AOL dial-up was the thing, and that iconic “You’ve Got Mail” notification was pure magic. At just 11 years old, I was helping my dad with his business—learning the ropes of customer service, managing emails, and figuring out how to use the internet to grow a small business. I didn’t know it at the time, but those early lessons planted the seeds for what would become my passion for business and technology.
Fast forward a few years (okay, more than a few), and I pursued a degree in Computer Information Systems, combining my love for tech with a desire to solve problems creatively. But it wasn’t until I stumbled into the world of graphic and web design that everything truly clicked. It was the perfect marriage of my technical skills and artistic side.
When I became a mom, I knew I needed to create a career that gave me the freedom to prioritize my family while still doing work I loved. So, I took a leap of faith and started SPG Web + Marketing LLC. In those early days, it was just me, my computer, and a whole lot of hustle. I had to figure out how to run a business, keep clients happy, and still make dinner—all at the same time. But I loved every minute of it (well, most minutes).
Over time, SPG grew into something bigger than I ever imagined. We’re known for creating bold, non-cookie-cutter designs and marketing strategies that actually help businesses grow. I’ve been lucky to work with amazing clients across different industries, from restaurants to wellness brands to tech startups.
And here’s the fun part—I get to break the rules of traditional design while showing up as a Black woman in tech, which is still a rarity. I want to inspire others to see that it’s possible to build something incredible, even when the odds seem stacked against you.
It’s been a wild ride from those AOL days to now running a thriving agency, but I wouldn’t trade it for anything. Every challenge, every late-night brainstorming session, and every client success story has shaped the business—and me—into what we are today. And honestly? I’m just getting started.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Smooth road? Not quite—it’s been more like a rollercoaster with a few detours, some unexpected speed bumps, and a lot of learning curves! Starting SPG Web + Marketing was exciting, but it came with its fair share of challenges.
In the beginning, I was doing everything myself—designing, coding, handling client communications, and figuring out all the “business stuff” on the fly. Let’s just say Google and I became best friends. There were moments where I doubted if I could really juggle it all, especially as a mom. Balancing family and business felt like walking a tightrope some days.
One of the biggest hurdles was learning how to set boundaries and charge what my work was worth. When you’re starting out, it’s easy to undervalue yourself just to land a client. But over time, I realized that offering premium services means I need to charge premium prices—not just for my own sustainability, but also to show clients the value of what they’re getting.
Another challenge was standing out in an industry full of competition. There are so many design and marketing agencies out there, but I decided early on that SPG wouldn’t just be another cookie-cutter service. I wanted to break the mold, which meant finding clients who appreciated creativity, innovation, and a customer-first approach. That took time and a lot of persistence.
Oh, and don’t get me started on tech hiccups! There were late nights where a website wouldn’t work properly, or a client needed a last-minute change right before launch. But those challenges taught me patience, problem-solving, and the power of a strong support system.
Even with the struggles, I wouldn’t trade the journey for anything. Every obstacle has been a lesson, and every tough moment has helped me grow—both as a business owner and as a person. The road may have been bumpy, but it’s led to some pretty amazing destinations. And I’m ready for whatever twists and turns come next!
We’ve been impressed with SPG Web + Marketing ( Soda Pop Graphics ), but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
SPG Web + Marketing is more than just a design agency—it’s a powerhouse of creativity, strategy, and innovation. We specialize in helping businesses grow through custom websites, strategic branding, and marketing solutions that are anything but cookie-cutter. If you’ve ever felt like your business deserved more than a one-size-fits-all approach, we’re the team for you.
What sets us apart? For starters, we’re the only agency in the U.S. that uses the RICH-AC methodology—our proprietary framework for delivering results-driven, impactful, and creative solutions. But beyond that, we’re known for breaking the rules of traditional design. We create bold, standout work that reflects each client’s unique story and resonates with their audience.
We’re also a woman-owned, Black-owned business, and I’m incredibly proud of how we’re disrupting the tech and design world in our own way. Representation matters, and I want to show other women and people of color that they can carve their own path in this space.
Our services include custom websites, logos, marketing materials, and even custom music creation for media projects (yes, we make beats too!). Whether you’re launching a restaurant, building a wellness brand, or scaling a tech company, we act as your in-house but out-house marketing team, providing the resources of a full agency with the personalized touch of a trusted partner.
Brand-wise, I’m most proud of how we’ve built a reputation for caring about our clients’ success as much as our own. We don’t just build websites or design logos; we help businesses tell their stories, reach their goals, and stand out in crowded markets. That’s the heart of what we do—creating meaningful, long-term partnerships that deliver real results.
For anyone reading this, here’s what I want you to know: at SPG, we believe in pushing boundaries, challenging the status quo, and creating work that makes people stop and pay attention. If you’re ready to level up your business, we’d love to help you get there. Let’s make magic together!
What matters most to you?
What matters most to me is growth and legacy—both personally and professionally. Growth is about constantly learning, evolving, and pushing beyond my comfort zone. I believe that if you’re not growing, you’re standing still, and life is too full of possibilities to stay stagnant. Whether it’s improving my craft, building deeper relationships, or expanding my business, I’m always striving to be better than I was yesterday.
But growth isn’t just about me—it’s also about creating opportunities for others to grow. As a business owner, I take pride in mentoring my team, supporting my clients’ success, and inspiring others to dream bigger. There’s nothing more fulfilling than seeing the ripple effect of growth—when the work I do empowers someone else to achieve their goals.
And that leads to legacy. For me, legacy isn’t just about leaving behind a successful business or a name people recognize. It’s about the impact I make—the lives I touch, the opportunities I create, and the inspiration I spark along the way. I want my children to see that it’s possible to build something meaningful while staying true to your values. I want the businesses I work with to thrive because of what we’ve created together. And I want to inspire other women, especially women of color, to see that they, too, can succeed in spaces where they’ve traditionally been underrepresented.
At the end of the day, growth and legacy go hand in hand. Every step forward is part of the bigger picture I’m building, and every milestone I achieve is another brick in the foundation of a legacy I hope will inspire others for years to come.
