Life, Values & Legacy: Our Chat with Kim Fields of Olivette MO

We recently had the chance to connect with Kim Fields and have shared our conversation below.

Kim, a huge thanks to you for investing the time to share your wisdom with those who are seeking it. We think it’s so important for us to share stories with our neighbors, friends and community because knowledge multiples when we share with each other. Let’s jump in: What is a normal day like for you right now?
My day begins early with intention. I like to use those quiet hours to journal, organize my thoughts, and map out priorities so I’m leading my day instead of reacting to it.

Once I step into work, I wear many hats. I’m answering calls, assisting clients with notary and apostille needs, and making sure every appointment runs smoothly. I rely on automation and scheduling tools to streamline the process, which frees me up to focus on what matters most—helping people feel confident and supported in moments that are often high stakes.

In the afternoons, I balance business growth with personal development. I’m continuously learning, building systems, and preparing my company to scale while also exploring new opportunities in innovation and AI.

Evenings are reserved for family and personal care. I spend time with my mother, prepare meals, and make room for health and reflection. For me, a “normal” day is really about creating balance between service, growth, and purpose.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Kim Fields, and I am the founder of Premier Notary & Apostille Services. I built this company on a foundation of trust, professionalism, and a genuine commitment to helping people through important milestones in their lives. From notarizing powers of attorney and real estate documents to securing apostilles for international use, I understand that every document carries weight, and I take pride in guiding clients through the process with care and precision.

What makes my brand unique is the balance I’ve created between tradition and innovation. On one hand, I stay true to timeless values—integrity, reliability, and personal service. On the other hand, I embrace technology and automation to give clients a seamless, efficient experience. This combination allows me to honor the human side of the work while also modernizing an industry that often feels outdated.

My journey started with a simple vision: to provide a trusted service that could grow with the needs of my community. Today, I’m proud to see that vision expanding as Premier Notary & Apostille Services continues to serve clients across Missouri and beyond, with an eye on making services more accessible, faster, and smarter for the future.

Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. What’s a moment that really shaped how you see the world?
One moment that truly shaped how I see the world was stepping into entrepreneurship while also becoming the primary caregiver for my mother. Balancing the responsibility of building a business with caring for a loved one gave me a new perspective on what it means to serve others. It taught me that time, compassion, and presence are just as valuable as financial success.

That experience deepened my sense of purpose. I realized that my work isn’t just about documents—it’s about people. Every client I meet is often facing an important transition, whether personal or professional, and I see my role as helping them move through it with clarity and confidence.

It also reinforced for me that resilience is a choice. No matter the challenges, you can either let them define you or let them refine you. For me, that moment became the lens through which I approach both business and life.

If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
If I could say one kind thing to my younger self, it would be: “Trust the process and trust yourself.” I would remind myself that every setback, delay, or closed door is not the end but a redirection toward something better.

I would tell my younger self not to be so hard on herself for not having everything figured out right away. The lessons you learn along the way are just as important as the goals you reach. Patience, faith, and consistency carry you further than rushing ever will.

Most of all, I’d say, “You’re stronger than you think, and one day you’ll look back and realize every challenge prepared you for the life you’re building now.”

Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. What important truth do very few people agree with you on?
An important truth I hold—one that not everyone agrees with—is that automation and human connection can coexist, even in service-based businesses. Many people believe technology takes away the personal touch, but I see it differently. I believe automation doesn’t replace relationships; it enhances them.

By using tools to streamline scheduling, payments, and follow-ups, I actually create more space to focus on clients. Instead of being buried in repetitive tasks, I can give people my full attention where it matters most—listening, guiding, and making sure they feel cared for.

To me, efficiency and empathy aren’t opposites. They’re partners. That belief has shaped how I run my business and how I look at the future of client service.

Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. What will you regret not doing?
What I would regret most is not fully stepping into my potential and using my gifts to the fullest. I don’t want to look back and feel like I played it safe or left opportunities on the table. For me, that means continuing to grow my business, expanding my reach, and making a real impact not only in my community but also in the broader industry.

I would regret not taking the risks that align with my vision—whether that’s embracing innovation, scaling my company, or creating opportunities for others. I know that comfort zones can be dangerous because they keep you from discovering how much more you’re capable of.

At the end of the day, “I’d rather fail moving forward than live with the regret of never trying.”
