Today we’d like to introduce you to Anna Noxon.
Hi Anna, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
As long as I remember, I have always been interested in the many beautiful herbs, flowers, and plants that can help us bring a smile back to our faces or reduce the discomfort from sore muscles. Of course, life does get in the way, and I wasn’t on the path I thought I would have for a while. About 10 years ago, I returned to herbs, flowers, and plants in their form of essential oils, carrier oils, and hydrosols. Looking to share this with others and help them with their self-care, I began mixing bath bombs, shower steamers, and sugar scrubs. One of the biggest points I like to share is that all these products are made in small batches. Specifically, the sugar scrub was created first to help my year-round battle with dry skin on my hands, raw cane sugar blended with gentle jojoba and apricot carrier oils and essential oils that are helpful for our skin. This has grown into lip balm, bath salts (soaks), and even balm bars. My family knows when it is time for me to blend more when I say, “going for some aromatherapy!” Since I have susceptible skin, each ingredient is researched and self-tested by myself and my family. My products have been available through my website and at local craft events for the last five years. I am in my last semester of a Master of Science in Holistic Aromatherapy & Ayurveda at MIU.
We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Of course not. For many business owners, there are always some bumps in the road. A few struggles have been marketing for my website, the attempt to use less plastic, learning how fast essential oils diffuse out of products, and why it is good to have event insurance.
Thanks – so, what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I specialize in bringing self-care to your home. At one point or another, we all just remembered that we needed to provide a little downtime for ourselves. My products are created to give that self-care at home, whether in the bath, shower, or kitchen. So far, I am best known for my shower steamers in Easy Breathe blend. It is still in the works, but what sets me apart from others is my openness to want to receive custom orders for anything from a baby shower to specific personal needs. I am most proud of customers returning to my booth and telling me how helpful the products were for them.
We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you.
God is first in my life, so I know he is the leader in this area. There are those times when I must work harder to get where I want to be. Of course, there are other times when the door is closed fully. It is up to me to see more than what is visible.
