Today we’d like to introduce you to Josh Nazworthy.
Hi Josh, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers?
I grew up surrounded by music, my family gatherings were filled with collective songs and instruments. I started playing the drums in 5th grade, up until my junior year of high school I was very focused on classical percussion, with my goals set on the top symphonies in the world.
I attended a college in Missouri in pursuit of a percussion education degree but quickly fell into the world of creating my own music from scratch. Pulling together sounds from the likes of Mac Miller, Bon Iver, Earl Sweatshirt, and many more, I fell in love with the process and sound of MY music.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
It has definitely been a rough road, in July of 2021 I released my first, self-titled album “JOSH NAZ” which was followed by eight weekly singles.
After that release, it was (and still is) hard. Finding inspiration after you’ve created something amazing is challenging and feels like I’m at square one sometimes. But luckily I’m surrounded by amazing creators who inspire me to be my best every day.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m most proud of the fact that I can bring in a strong music theory and classical music background to pop and hip hop studio sessions. I feel I am set apart from others by my ability to look at every single creation as art and not just another track.
Are there any apps, books, podcasts, blogs, or other resources you think our readers should check out?
SoundCloud has been my best friend since I started releasing music, it’s where most of my traction has come from with my song “Sunday Morning Blues” over a year after release day I still get notifications about how much people love that song, and that makes me happy.
