Today we’d like to introduce you to Regan Weal.
Hi Regan, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My name is Re’gan Weal and I’m a Fashion & Lifestyle Blogger. I’ve been blogging for 3 years now and I love it. I’ve always been a fan of fashion. My mom and family always did their best to make sure I was a well dressed kid. I tried to keep that up as I got older even though I was and still am a big tomboy. I’ve always liked wearing different things, I had my own style. As an adult, I was inspired by magazines, music videos and just people walking the streets. I was born on lower Manhattan, near the village where people weren’t afraid to express themselves, so it always seemed like someone had something to say through fashion, I wanted that.
So, here I am, in my 40’s discovering that there’s a place for me and my expression; of course, I wasn’t sure how it would be received but so far so good. One day I decided to just start putting outfits together and take pictures. All of a sudden, I had people who liked what I was doing. I was inspiring people and it made me feel good. I use my platform to give women the courage and confidence to try new things. Women would write to me and say, “They didn’t think they could wear a certain item and that I encouraged them to try. That definitely keeps me going and puts a smile on my face. Makes me love what I do even more.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has it’s ups and downs. Lol, I feel I’m walking in my purpose but I also have a full-time job, so it can become exhausting and challenging at times. It’s also mentally exhausting because you are a creator and you always have to come up with fresh ideas. There have been times I wanted to quit but my community encourages me when they let me know they love what I do. I’m building a community and I don’t want to give up on that. I keep pushing because there’s nothing like following your passion and doing what you love.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I have a full-time job working for the City; as much as I love my job, it can be stressful. I’m a New City Bus Operator, so I deal with people all day. I’ve had this position for 15 years and I have ten more to go…Wheeew. I’m proud to be a bus operator, especially during the Pandemic. We weren’t allowed to quarantine; we kept working, so we’re who the City relied on to get back and forth to work. We transported the essential worker as well as, the front-line workers when they had no other means of getting to the people that needed them. What sets me apart from others is my ambition and being the type of person that’s not afraid to be myself. I love being myself and that’s a silly, loving, caring, sassy kinda gal.
What do you like and dislike about the city?
I love that NYC is always on. It’s the City that never sleeps. There’s so much to do and so many places to eat. So there’s never a dull moment. My dislikes are at this point in my life it can be overwhelming and I’m so over the cold. I literally despise the cold. But it’s home for now.
