Life & Work with Spillie Nelson of Alton/StLouis

Today we’d like to introduce you to Spillie Nelson

Hi Spillie, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
We formed in 2015. We were all musicians and other bands at the time, and we got together and decided to take a whack at our own project. There’s a very large family of musicians that hold Spillie Nelson together, but the four core is, Nick Wright, Andrew Crain, Jared Unfried, and Josh Whitt. Honorable mentions go to Gavin Colp, Rich Fleetwood, and Gary Markert. They have been a huge part of the writing process and the vibe that keeps Spillie Nelson alive.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
One of the smooth things is we’ve always been able to get gigs through demand and return with groups of people. I wouldn’t say we have struggles, but trials and tribulations, we take the failures and use them as lessons to move forward. There’s always a level of positivity amongst us, no matter what. We believe that is one of the reasons we have a draw, is because we provide a positive atmosphere.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
We are a reggae rock blues jam band from St. Louis, Missouri. Changing lives and positive vibes.

How do you define success?
There’s always more out there, but at this point, we feel like we have succeeded, it’s already gone above and beyond what we ever expected.
