Life & Work with Videll Philip

Today we’d like to introduce you to Videll Philip.

Hi Videll, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers?
Hey family! My name is Videll Philip and my journey started while I was in high school. I attended Clyde C. Miller Career Academy and was in a pathway called Multimedia. Our teacher, the late Mr. Atchinson, saw a creative talent in me that I was still discovering. He helped bring my creativity to light and I discovered that I was great at all aspects of Multimedia.

Through that process, I found my love for photography and video and begin to focus on those areas more. Senior year, we had to attend internships and my internship was at STL TV where I end up diving more into video production and learning more about broadcasting under the guidance of Andre Holman, the production manager. Seeing what it takes to produce live TV, I found myself loving the production process of broadcasting and started to find my niche in what I wanted to focus on even more.

I then created Captured By Videll, LLC where I specialize in Interviews, Motivational videos, Branding videos, and Commercials. I am honored to work with 94XO, an amazing platform that highlights talented people in a positive light, owned by Simonne Kimble (MonneXo). I am the production coordinator of the AH! TV Network, a live-streaming tv network that is focused on providing inspiring, insightful, and entertaining TV content, is owned by Andre Holman.

The journey has been amazing and I’m blessed to be on the path that I am on. Staying consistent and hard work has played a huge role in where I am today. The words I live by is “Think Positive. Be Positive. Do Positive.”

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Each journey has its ups and downs but how you respond to those situations is what really matters. I would say the majority of “struggles” I have encountered were situations that were me vs. me. Meaning that I would sometimes question myself like “Is this for me?” or “am I good enough?”

I definitely dealt with a confidence issue, but the way I responded conquered any doubts I had. I continued to push through and stayed consistent, knowing that everything will make sense soon, another quote I live by. In addition to that, I always try to find the positive in any and everything that I face or go through.

I feel there is a positive in everything, and above all a learning experience. I always tell people you either Win or Learn, you can’t really lose because you should learn from that experience instead. Then apply what you learned and go for the win!

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
Captured By Videll, LLC specializes in interviews, motivational videos, branding videos, and Commercials. I am most known for my work ethic and the experience you receive when working with me. There is so much more than just bringing a camera and shooting photos or video.

I like to build a rapport with my clients and truly understand what it is they are trying to accomplish. From there, I get involved in the planning stage where I listen and share my perspective on how we can bring your vision to life.

What was your favorite childhood memory?
My favorite childhood memories are spending time with family! From holidays to just meeting up on the Riverfront and enjoying each other company. I love those quality times together, I would learn and soak up so much from my siblings, uncles, and especially my mother which helped mold me into who I am today.

I’ve seen my mother’s generosity, how helpful she was and still is, and just being an all-around great person. When I reflect on who I am I always link back to my mother because her actions spoke louder and I am extremely thankful for her.
