Today we’d like to introduce you to Alontiona Robinson
Hi Alontiona, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I’ve always had a passion for dentistry, even as a kid, but life took me on a different path for a while. I turned my love for fitness into a business and focused on building that while putting school on hold. Becoming a mom, however, reignited my drive to pursue my true passion—dentistry. Now, as a third-year pre-dental student, I’m balancing motherhood, fitness, and preparing for dental school. My journey is about showcasing how these aspects of my life intersect, inspiring others to chase their dreams, no matter the detours along the way.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It hasn’t been a smooth road, but I wouldn’t trade the journey. Balancing 15 credit hours in school, being a mom, and working to inspire women to prioritize their health is no small task. There are days when it feels like there aren’t enough hours, and the challenges can be overwhelming. However, I’ve come to realize that the hard path is often the most rewarding. These struggles push me to grow, stay disciplined, and remain focused on the bigger picture of achieving my goals and helping others along the way.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m known for my work in fitness, but my true passion lies in inspiring young women and moms to chase their dreams, no matter how unconventional their path may look. As I work toward dental school, I’m proud of my ability to balance motherhood, academics, and fitness while still finding time to build meaningful connections within the dental field. Traveling to meet with doctors and communities out of town has not only expanded my network but also reaffirmed my commitment to my goals. I’m incredibly proud of how I’ve managed to navigate these challenges while staying focused on my dreams and showing others that with determination and balance, anything is possible.
Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
Finding a mentor or building a strong network requires intentional effort and openness. My advice is to step outside of your comfort zone and actively attend events, conferences, or meetups related to your field. For me, traveling to events like the IDID Pipeline Summit and connecting with program directors and dentists in various communities has been instrumental. Don’t be afraid to ask questions or express your goals; people are often willing to share their knowledge and guidance when they see your passion. Networking isn’t just about collecting contacts—it’s about building meaningful relationships with those who inspire and support your journey.
