Today we’d like to introduce you to Ann Schulte.
Hi Ann, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I first found the FASTer Way To Fat Loss through a blogger on Instagram! I have always been very active and prioritized healthy eating but something about the way this woman talked about the program really intrigued me. They were utilizing strategies that I was not doing, some I hadn’t heard of, and some even went against everything I had been taught about health and weight loss. So my curiosity got the best of me and I jumped in a week before Thanksgiving of 2018. Within the first week, I felt like a new person. I had this surge of energy that didn’t fade, I was sleeping better, I had less mood swings and more patience with my young kids and just felt happier! I was eating more than I ever had allowed myself and I just felt good. A few weeks after that, I started noticing body composition changes, more muscle definition and looser jeans. I couldn’t believe that I could eat this much food, feel better from the inside out and have the physical changes I was after.
I finished my first round around New Years Day. I happened to be at a brunch that day and found myself listening to all the ladies lament their holiday season of eating and indulging as well as discuss what restrictive diet they were going to start the next day. It was then that I realized I had to share this program. People needed it. There was a better way. By February of 2019, I was certified as a coach and I ran my first round on April 1st!
I am now over two years into coaching, continue to welcome new clients from all over the country into my rounds and watch them make such significant changes, find food freedom, and feel worthy and happy. My business continues to grow and truly, I have found a passion for showing women and men what is possible. To not feel shame or discontent with their body and realize health is so much more than a number on a scale or a certain dress size.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Probably my biggest struggle was getting over many self-limiting beliefs. Even though I have had a lifelong interest in healthy eating and exercise, I did not have a background in it and I think a part of me felt a bit like an imposter. I had never owned my own business and didn’t know what I was doing! What would people think? Would they think this was a gimmick? Would they accept me as someone who could help, add value, and have credibility? I was scared and fear can be really mean and stop you in your tracks if you let it. Eventually, I learned that failure is always a possibility and I was willing to accept that and try anyway.
Specifically, I had a real fear of social media. I was on Facebook and Instagram but only as a mom who shared pictures here and there of her kids. But this was a digital nutrition and fitness company – it was run online! I had to push past that fear and it took a minute to figure it out. But as my husband continually reminded me, social media is a just detail. He said, “If you believe in your mission and the need to share it, social media is just a detail and an avenue to spread the word.” And boy was he right. I now treat social media as part of the job and I have grown to really love it and the community it has brought me. It’s a way to connect with so many people and I’ve built so many friendships this way. It may sound silly, but in this day and age, social media is just another way to gather people together. I have really learned to lean into my fears. I still have them everyday and they are still hold ups for me, but I have learned that usually fear is your compass and doing the thing that scares you only allows you to grow and reach new heights.
