Meet Ashley Armstrong

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ashley Armstrong.

Hi Ashley, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today.
I fell in love with Photography in High School. I took a photography class where we used a film camera, and this is where I realized that capturing memories is a true passion for me. Photography became a strong hobby because I never thought that making it a career was an option. I started by just taking photos for friends and family, which morphed into other people seeing my work and contacting me for their sessions. I started building my portfolio and learning as much as possible in all forms of photography, leading me to start Coco’s Lens Photography in 2016. Fast forward six years, I have taken a focus on Couples/Engagement and Boudoir Photography. I love being able to capture such a beautiful time in a couple’s life. Being able to see the love they share between each other and providing those everlasting frozen moments is very special to me. When I was getting married, I went out on a limb and did a Boudoir Session with my Wedding Photographer, which was a life-changing moment for me. I realized that boudoir photography has an unlimited number of benefits. I wanted to provide this amazing experience to all women because it is so empowering and a great way to boost self-confidence. This journey has led me to create Coco Boudoir, an extension of Coco’s Lens Photography. My first goal in offering my Boudoir events is to empower women and promote body positivity.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I would not say it has been a smooth road, no. I created Coco’s Lens Photography in 2016, and for five years, it was more of a hobby for me, but in the past year, it has grown incredibly, and I have expanded more than I ever thought I would. I have put a lot of hard work, time, and money into this small business, and it is great to see that it is finally starting to pay off. I wouldn’t say there were any struggles, as my passion is photography, so being able to do it when I can, is enough for me. I never dreamed it would be a career, so I didn’t see the sporadic business as bad.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a Photographer in St. Louis, MO. and Surrounding Areas. I am the photographer and owner of Coco’s Lens Photography LLC and Coco Boudoir.

I specialize in Couples/Engagement and, most recently, Boudoir Photography. I also offer Wedding, Family, and Senior Portraits. I would love to expand into Newborn and Maternity, but I haven’t yet made that jump.
