Meet Brittany Brickey

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brittany Brickey.

Hi Brittany, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
For as long as I can remember, I’ve held a camera in my hand. My first one was a Polaroid when I was eight years old. Throughout high school, I took some classes and fresh out of high school, I interned with a wedding photographer for about a year. After that, I landed a job at a local portrait studio where I worked for five years, the last two years as the Studio Manager. When they went out of business three years ago, I got the push I needed to give my business my full attention and that’s when it really took off. I had started my business in 2013 but wasn’t really able to give it my all until I went full-time in 2018.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Success is never overnight. I’d say my biggest struggle was seeing what I wanted for my business and not knowing how to get there. I’d look at all these thriving photographers and not really know how to become like them. But I think the secret it honestly, as cliche as it is, to not give up. Wake up each day ready to learn something new. Don’t overwhelm yourself, but take today and ask yourself, what can I implement TODAY, right now, with the resources that I have in this moment. Keep doing that, and you’ll get there eventually.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I specialize in newborn and family photography. I’m known for my rich colors, my joy-filled images and the beautiful golden light in my photos. I’ve also had someone tell me im the “butterfly” of the community when it comes to my personality. I love to encourage others, speak life to them, make them believe in themselves and remind them of who they’re created to be.

I’m most proud of recently I just SOLD OUT my FIRST workshop in a few hours!!! God is good!!!! I have a passion for teaching and empowering others because I know how daunting the photography world can be. But there’s a place for everyone and each photographer brings something unique to the table. I’m set apart from the others for a few reasons- I offer a client closet for anyone who books a session with me. I also offer unique products like Barnwood frames and heirloom albums!

We’d love to hear about how you think about risk taking?
I don’t particularly LOVE taking risks but success ALWAYS requires taking risks, no matter if you like them or not. When taking a risk or making a big decision, I first check if I feel at peace about it. I ask myself, am I making this decision out of fear or faith? If it’s out of fear, it’s probably not the right decision, lol.
