Today we’d like to introduce you to Cheyenne Barron.
Hi Cheyenne, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I have never been a person that is content doing one thing. Which let me say is a blessing and a curse! Growing up I was always interested in all things creative or anything where I’d able to express myself. I was lucky to find my passion in life fairly young I’d say like 5-6 grade when my mom took me and my sister to a Clinique event at Macy’s (this was before Ulta’s were a big thing yikes) I got to have my first experience with makeup. I remember my dad telling me I could wear makeup to school as long as it looked like what they did and NOTHING else! Well… that didn’t stick long! I grew up with horrible anxiety and panic attacks and I felt like makeup and content creation has always helped me cope. I was never someone that was good at sports and I have always been a private person so I would go home and watch YouTube tutorials and do makeup for hours and take photos or videos. No one even would see it but I didn’t care because I loved it so much. That’s where my love of content creation came alive.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It hasn’t been a super smooth road and it still isn’t I’m sure that it won’t ever be! No matter what you do there will always be growing pains or challenges but that’s life! I wouldn’t say it was a challenge or an obstacle more of a learning experience but I did start a clothing boutique that is no longer a clothing boutique! I didn’t close it fully because I might have something up my sleeve for it in the future but I don’t think it’s going to be clothing! I started the store when I was going through one of the worst phases of my life with depression and anxiety as well as losing 2 family members within that time period. It was my distraction but I wasn’t passionate about it. I love fashion but I just don’t think that route was for me but I’m glad I did it because I learned so much about business! I think trying new things is so important even if you could “fail” because if you learn from it you didn’t fail.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
Right now, I am in the process of starting to do freelance makeup as well as being a freelance Social Media Manager! I said I don’t like to do just one thing! Social media is growing so fast and it’s such a time-consuming yet crucial part of growing your business/brand so why not let someone else who loves to do it do it for you! I love to create content and help people grow their business or brands! I think the coolest part of running social media for people is learning about their businesses/brand and what their story is and getting to help bring that to life! As far as being a makeup artist at least for me it’s definitely not work! I’ve done makeup for brides, bridesmaids, birthdays, or photoshoots and I love it so much! Getting to sit down with people and be a part of their special event is so special! I am anal with the details but that’s what makes me good at what I do! I also have to say I may be bias but I think I’m pretty fun to hang out with while I’m doing your makeup.
What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
I think the biggest lesson I’ve learned is that only you have control over your life. If you’re unhappy change it. It may not be immediate but small steps are better than none you’ll get to where you want to be eventually great things take time! Also, don’t worry about what other people think just because 1 person doesn’t like you doesn’t mean 10 others don’t! I used to worry about what people thought and if I didn’t, I’d be so much further towards my goals right now! I think the last thing I’d want anyone to know when trying to be successful or reach your goals is like the great Harry Styles says TREAT PEOPLE WITH KINDNESS and be yourself!! Being different is cool as hell and there’s enough room for everyone to be successful!
