Meet Chris Williams of Saint Louis

Today we’d like to introduce you to Chris Williams

Chris, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I first got into the music scene after meeting a close friend of mine years back. He is a well known rapper from Saint Louis by the name of Saint Beaux (Saint Orleans). At the beginning of my journey I became his road manager for small tours we were on, our biggest shows opening for Dj Paul and Chanel West Coast at SXSW in Austin, TX. and a couple Super Jam shows here in STL. Music has always been a love of mine though. My uncle would watch me as a baby while my mom worked and our music of choice was NWA, Ice Cube, Public Enemy, Snoop Dogg and Dr. DRE. He was enrolled at Loyola in Cali for a short time, hence the west coast music. But in all reality, my music knowledge comes from my mom and stepdad. She loved 80’s and 90’s R&B and he listened to EVERYTHING. One of my favorite memories with him is the first time I heard “Project B***h” riding through O’Fallon Park on a Saturday afternoon, kicking it with the OG’s.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It’s had its ups and downs. When I really started getting into it, life happened. I lost my grandpa, my first born, my brother was killed. A lot happened in that span of 2 years. My barber and I got into Deejaying around the same time. He kept going with it and honestly seeing how well he had sharpened his skills made me hungry again, so I’ve been back at it. My biggest struggle is self confidence. Being afraid of failure or not performing to a certain standard. No one wants to go out there in front of a crowd and suck. When ignoring that feeling, I’ve performed some of my best work.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m an up and coming Dj. I’m most proud of how I’ve taught myself the craft, with help from friends of course. (Saint Oeaux, Finster!!, Dj Homicide, Dj GFressh.) Shoutout to those guys man I wouldn’t be this involved if it wasn’t for them. Thank y’all! What I feel sets me apart is my diverse catalog of music. I can play anything, literally.

Do you any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
My favorite childhood memory is when my mom and my grandparents took me to Disney World & I jumped in the pool, not knowing how to swim. That’s the first time I felt like I could d anything I put my mind to!
