Today we’d like to introduce you to Dee Elise.
Hi Dee Elise, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Dancing has always been my passion. I’ve been dancing since I was four years old. I never sat still and was always moving, and I loved performing on stage. Taking dance classes from such an early age on, really allowed me to build my confidence. I also love being able to express myself through movement.
It is my current mission to help every woman feel as “delicious” as possible, no matter where they are in life. So I committed to offering my workshop DEELISH on a regular basis. I noticed the women who sought me out for classes wanted to work on their confidence and sex appeal the most, and heels classes were finally becoming more popular, so I began offering a “feel-good” heels class called Bedroom Baddie. It’s become a regular monthly gathering for some ladies and an opportunity to blow off some steam, get a workout in, or reset your mind to walk into the week confidently. I absolutely love teaching this class!
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
There have been some obstacles. I went through a personal traumatic experience that kept me in a shell for years. I separated myself from a lot of things that I love, but most importantly, I separated myself from my greatest love, which is dance.
However, I believe we can inspire others by using the lessons from our journey as the catalyst for helping people understand where they are in theirs. I’ve learned accepting your humanness is part of loving yourself unconditionally and that’s what I teach in my class; loving yourself as you are in this present moment and learning how to strut while you work to get to where you want to be in the future.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am mostly proud of the ladies that take my class. I love watching someone nail a move and you can tell they are just feeling themselves. That is my favorite moment. Then, on top of that, they take this energy into the week with them. It’s really the best moment as a teacher watching students transform their mindset in front of you.
My class is unique because I never leave you without something to take home. People text me with “aha moments” during the week after class all the time and I love it. I believe in a woman’s power to attract others through their own personal light. Every woman has sex appeal, and every woman has a superpower—but they have to believe in it. I also work in sales, and know that no one believes in your product if you don’t. I help women believe in what they have to offer the world. With all the negative voices we can create in our head, I’m the voice behind them screaming “BABY, YOU ARE IT!”
Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
I’ve learned to appreciate my eccentricities. People enjoy the way I teach movement and help them build their confidence. To know my classes have inspired people to think differently about how they walk through life (Literally) is a blessing. I don’t try to be like anyone else with how I teach, I just remind myself why I started teaching in the first place—to make people feel good. People can forget things you’ve said or done, but they never forget how you make them feel. I want everyone to feel as delicious as humanly possible.
