Faith , we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I started this business because I wanted to do something I loved everyday. I wanted to be able to be active in my community and be a small part of peoples everyday lives. I found a cute trailer on eBay and my dad and I drove 48 hours round trip to pick it up. It was a doozy! We got it back- set it up- and the rest is history!
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I would saying nothing worth doing is going to be easy but it can be fun! We have to laugh at the hiccups that are bound to happen. Surrounding myself with people who keep life lighthearted is key. The struggles have been what you would expect of a 19 year old starting a business. My most memorable bumps in the road are accidentally flooding my coffee trailer or the time that I started an electrical fire because I didn’t know space heaters don’t get plugged into full power strips. OOPS!
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I think the thing that’s sets us apart at flower coffee is when we ask how you are doing, we care about the answer. Our priority isn’t coffee, it’s connection- something the world is really missing out on. PLUS, when it does come to coffee, our beans are sourced from small family farms. Our roasters pay 3x market value so that we know these farmers are making a livable and fair wage.
Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
I think everyone in my life deserves the credit-
My family and husband who have spent hours and hours helping me build this from the ground up.
The community who has rallied and supported me in every-way imaginable. (That would be a book if I were to list all the ways)
My sweet employees who deal with my scatterbrained ideas and allow me to make mistakes as I navigate being a boss for the first time
