Meet Glenn Ezell

Today we’d like to introduce you to Glenn Ezell.

Hi Glenn, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I was misdiagnosed in high school and it led to the downfall of my future sports career. It was my sophomore year of track and field. I ran mid-distance, usually 800 meters and up. I started to develop what I was told to have as “IT band syndrome” in my left knee. My primary care physician didn’t seem to have an answer besides “stop running,” and I ended up at physical therapy. I remember all the ultrasound, stretches, exercises, and knee bands. None of it helped my knee to feel better. I finished the next two years and did pretty well but I never felt like I was able to reach my maximum potential because of the lingering knee pain that progressed into back and hip pain as well.

Fast forward to the next four years of college, where I was studying to begin dental school. I still ran but it wasn’t as easy anymore. I was facing neck and upper back discomfort now from studying and poor posture. I felt like I constantly needed to “pop” my neck and back to get relief. I made poor dietary choices and got sick very often. This was definitely the lowest of the low when it came to my health. Something had to be done, I just had no idea who to go to with these problems. I decided not to pursue dental school as it just didn’t quite “fit” what I believed I was destined to do in order to help people.

I finally came across chiropractic and liked it so much that I decided to make a career out of it. I studied at Logan College Of Chiropractic and near the end of my time there, I was able to study under the mentorship of another chiropractor. We did x-rays of my lower back and hips and to my surprise, I had a short leg… on the left side! The lightbulb went off, this was exactly why my left knee bothered me in high school. My muscles and tendons were just working extra hard on that side and were compensating for a bigger problem. With my hips being so off, it was putting severe pressure on my lower back, causing some early degenerative arthritis. In addition to that, my feet were extremely flat and it was causing severe pronation of both feet. It wasn’t a knee problem, after all, it was a compensatory problem that started at birth and progressed as I got older. Without chiropractic, I would have probably been on medications, getting steroid shots, and contemplating surgery at this point.

I learned how to fix all of these problems, how to control and maintain a healthy diet, and how to exercise effectively for my lifestyle. At this point in my life, I can say with certainty that I am in the BEST shape of my life!

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Coming out of any medical school with a ton of debt is never smooth. I remember first starting up my practice and wondering how I would make it to the next rent payment. It was very difficult to make ends meet. Chiropractic college teaches you how to be a great doctor, but you get little to no experience on the business end of things. I’ve had great support the whole way through, which has been very helpful.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
We are a family chiropractic practice here in St. Charles, MO. We see children and adults and specialize in treating people who work at a desk, people who work in trades, athletes, weight lifters, and pregnant moms. Our approach to helping each person that walks through our door is designed at getting to the absolute root of the problem. By finding and treating the root cause of pain/discomfort/dysfunction, we have eliminated the problem instead of covering it up with temporary fixes like medication. We utilize x-rays as well when appropriate to design custom corrective outcomes that are far superior to pain-based treatment only. Our new patient special is the best way to get started with chiropractic care, it includes a consultation, examination, x-rays, and a doctor’s report of findings for only $40.

So, before we go, how can our readers or others connect or collaborate with you? How can they support you?
I love to network with like-minded individuals. People in the health and wellness sphere are welcome to contact me!
