Today we’d like to introduce you to Jill Davis and Ann DeLine.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
After almost 20 years of being stay-at-home moms, we decided to turn our passion into a profession. We had done a lot of DIY, design work, and painting in our own homes, and transitioned those talents into a business. We started small with refinishing furniture, in hopes to create a part-time business.
Then we began to get hired to paint kitchen cabinets and therefore expanded our services to include cabinetry, banisters, and fireplaces. Some of the benchmarks of our business that have led to our success include an eye for design, strong communication, quality workmanship, reliability, and professionalism.
Seven years later, we have created a successful business whereby we can be flexible with our own schedule which allows us a good work-life balance for ourselves and our families.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Since we had known each other as friends for many years, we had to create boundaries to keep our work life and friendship separated. Rarely a struggle, but we have always maintained our motto of family and friendship first.
To be completely transparent and honest with each other regarding our decisions on running our business. We have learned to sharpen our skills and expand our product knowledge thru research and advice from our vendors. Flanagan’s paint supply has been instrumental in helping us along the way.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
We specialize in transforming and updating cabinetry, banisters, and fireplaces giving our customers the opportunity to transform their existing space without a total remodel.
We are known for our commitment to a definitive start and end date for our projects, which we have found is unique in our industry. We set realistic expectations and deliver those on time with good communication throughout the process and our clients are very appreciative of this. We are extremely proud to have built this business largely through word of mouth and referrals.
We are grateful to have wonderful clients who graciously allow us into their homes.
What do you think about luck?
We were very fortunate “lucky” that one of our very first clients was a dear friend whose knowledge of social media guided us in the early years. She flooded social media with pictures and praise and helped spread the word for us quickly.
