Meet Joe Buie

Today we’d like to introduce you to Joe Buie.

Hi Joe, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start, maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers.
Well, I’ve been an advocate of the legalization of cannabis well since I started partaking at 20 years old. I saw the societal effects instantly. Folks weren’t acting obnoxious like alcohol. Just a chill vibe as I got more into I started looking at the medicinal benefits and was instantly intrigued, but what opened my eyes was a trip to Denver to the cannabis cup. I knew then that this industry would flourish in our area soon. So in 2017, before legalization here in Missouri, I created homegrown heroez geared towards education of the plant and the mental, societal and spiritual benefits. I chose the name because, for so long, the cultivators that bring us these high-quality meds had to sit in the shadows due to laws. Those are true heroez, as I call them. My brand offers to grow classes, grow setups, consulting, and merchandise.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
No smooth ride at all. I am one of the, if not first, cannabis brands in St. Louis, and being ahead of the curve has been a gift and a curse. Getting brand recognition locally has been harder than out of state. I have a larger footprint in Colorado than here, and I live here.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am an advocate for national legalization. Leading up to voting, I was educating our people on the differences between the amendments and how they affect us. #LegalizeMO shirts I made circulated the city heavily, helping push amendment 2. I’m a cultivator and licensed caregiver. I enjoy helping patients with their specific needs, knowing I’m helping them live a better quality of life without prescription pills.

How would we have described you growing up if we knew you were growing up?
I was a smart yet inquisitive talkative child 😂. I mean, anybody that would listen, I’d talk to every teacher said the same thing “he’s a bright child but a busybody.”
