Today we’d like to introduce you to Julian Price.
Hi Julian, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I was born in 1997 to a loving family of five located in St. Louis, MO. Growing up as the youngest you get the benefit of learning from others’ mistakes quite a lot, but also on occasions, you don’t receive the same amount of attention. I was a shy & introverted child hiding a very creative & entertaining personality.
A child’s imagination is an endless wonderland, I explored mine at all moments of the day. Regarding music, I treated it the same diving into all types of genres and artists. Music has revolved around my life since the day I was born, with my family having some experience within the industry. My father & aunt (his sister) performed with a number of cover bands across the STL area, while also operating a family hairstyling business.
My mother loves musicals and she would take my siblings & me to “The Muny” in the forest park whenever her favorites were showing. My Brother has always been a big influence on me, seeing his development as a musical producer and DJ gave me a bigger sense of confidence in my musical abilities. Throughout my childhood, I noticed that my ear was wired to lyrics and melodies, I could memories an entire song within one or two listens. I would write poems to my school crush, freestyle a silly song for a group of friends.
The small traits were always noticeable to me so in the 8th grade I wrote my first song. I don’t remember the lyrics much I’m sure it wasn’t too good, but that’s where my own passions as an artist were born. Summer of 2015, I finally worked up the confidence to start recording and experimenting with my voice. Along the way, I’ve run into some great friends to work with, and I hope their dreams come to fruition as well as mine.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
There have been challenges along the way; from no equipment, place to record, support from others, or even confidence in myself.
There will always be obstacles that come along, but you have to realize there’s also a way over, around, under, or through it. Having a good relationship with friends & family will go a long way as well, never be too scared to ask for help.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m an artist by every means, currently releasing music on all platforms under the name “luvvsai”.
I don’t believe I can be tied down to one genre. My music draws from all my influences, every artist from Drake to Phil Collins, and every genre from hip-hop to EDM. Music to me is energy, emotions, and life. I develop my tracks & overall sound around whatever emotions I’m feeling at the moment, whatever trials or challenges I’m facing in life.
When you listen to my music you’ll hear a portion of my life that hopefully, you may relate to, something to give another point of view on life.
