Today we’d like to introduce you to Kevin “DJ 7Duece” Hamilton.
Hi Kevin, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers?
Well, it all started with myself and one of my business partners, Marvin. We used to take lunch breaks in the parking garage and just discuss how this company was moving business-wise and how they traveled. We were seeing how a Corporation moved and said, WE CAN DO THIS TOO! Our main focus was for DJs to be able to be a DJ and play what they wanted to play w/o being locked in a box with 15 songs to choose from and also independent artists. With our platform, we wanted to be able to give the independent artists a platform to have a VOICE and be heard!
I was already a member of a DJ Coalition (UnifiedSoundDJs) and we had spun up a digital radio station for US DJs to have a place to mix without any restrictions. Needless to say, it didn’t go too well because of the DJs that we had onboard either 1. Didn’t want to submit mixes and 2. Didn’t want to promote it. I was losing money by continuously investing and nothing came from it. After so long, I bounced and I took the radio station with me. It was myself, DJ Ladyflex, and DJ KillaKi. With the help of others, we came up with the name HOT Three Sixty Five Radio because we wanted nothing but the BEST DJs and music which meant that our station would be banging HOT Tracks, Mixes, etc every day of the week since 365.
The station started to grow, we picked up the Sheryl Underwood Radio show and started taking off, we had DJs from across the country New York, Alabama, Atlanta, St Louis, Ohio, Philly, Baltimore, South Carolina, Virginia, Indianapolis… and more! We were rocking Southern Soul, Hip Hop, R&B, Baltimore Club, House Music, Hip Hop Gospel, etc. Honestly, I didn’t think that we were going to grow as big as we did in such a short time frame.
In steps, Malorie who I had DJ’d a fundraising party for back in the summer 0f 2017. She was eager to hop in and assist because she saw the greatness of what we were doing and began to PUSH and PROMOTE the station. I don’t think non of us knew what we were getting into, we just believed in what we had. Malorie is the Queen of Networking and fasts forward a little bit and next thing you know, we expanded by having full representation out of Atlanta, GA and partnering with The Hype Magazine, Hip Hop Fraternity (H.H.F.), Club I-Lounge, and its independent artist’s Showcases. This expanded our direct reach to over a 1.4million!
At this current time, we are fully licensed, we have Live broadcasts daily, HOT DJ mixes from across the US, Smartphone apps (iOS & Android), Alexa Skill, Websites and can be reached from anywhere as long as you have internet connectivity! We continue to focus on DJs and Independent Artists! As you can see, we’re a small group but making great progress!
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Nowhere close has it been smooth. I believe one of our biggest challenges is finding “like-minded” people that are willing to work with you. People tend to put themselves first then the Mission when in fact if you complete the Mission, everything else will fall into place
Another challenge would be consistency. It’s THE MOST difficult challenge and believe me… it’s a “work in progress”.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a retired Navy Veteran. I was an IT while serving, then retired and continued my career in the IT Field. By night, I’m a DJ for the AllStarDJ Service (wegotthejams.com) and Independent DJ services (dj7duece.com). I am the “jack of all trades and the master of none” Most people know me just from being from U-City lol but a lot of people know me just from DJing at their events (Parties, Weddings/Receptions, High School, Company events, and more).
I’m most proud of my HOT365 Team! There are only a few of us and to see where we came from (an idea) to where we are now!!! I couldn’t ask for a better group!!
What sets me apart from others… well just with my Military background alone, I will stick with it from start to finish and then follow up afterward.
If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
Aw man… growing up as a little kid in U-City. My crib was the place to be. Seemed like the entire hood would always come to gather (until moms came home lol) I love music, I loved joking around and making people smile. We were a close-knit crew back in the day and I’m the same way now. I’ll break my back for you if I know you and if it’s for a good cause
Music will ALWAYS be my passion and being a DJ and having the free reign to be creative with music, mixes, and mashups is my thing! You have ever been to a Party Club or wherever and you hear that one song that just takes you there… well that’s me with music. All the time.
