Today we’d like to introduce you to LaShondria Gordon.
Alright, thank you for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us how you got started?
I am LaShondria Gordon, a wedding/event planner, Day of Coordinator, and the owner of ShonLove Events. I love “love,” people, planning, and experiences. Most people who know me would say I have never met a stranger. I have always been enthusiastic about planning, whether it was a family trip or gathering. Despite my passion for love and planning, wedding planning was not an immediate “Yes” for me. It started with a “NO.” The year was 2017, and my cousin Adrienne Payne was planning her wedding. She asked me to coordinate, and I said “NO.” She insisted! So, I agreed to coordinate her wedding. I was not familiar with wedding planning or the industry, but I was determined to do an excellent job. I began researching the Day of Coordinator and crafted a timeline to ensure her day was perfect. And it was! The guests kept asking her, “where did you get your coordinator” and “what is her fee?”
I remember thinking how easy it was because I am a natural leader and love “bossing” people around. Coordinating was so natural to me. I thought, “I’ve found my place.” I went to Facebook to test myself; I made a post offering my services as a Day of Coordinator. I received my first lead and client, Margery Brison. I had the privilege of coordinating her big day. It went PERFECT! It was so good her husband tipped me $500 at the end of the night. I was amazed. Can you imagine being paid for something you were testing out? I talked to God that night, and ShonLove Events was born in June 2018.
Immediately, I immersed myself in wedding conventions, training, and research and became a Certified Wedding & Event Planner. As my business grew, the Pandemic hit and canceled many of my weddings. However, it gave me the time and space to focus and build my business. I got office space to meet potential wedding and event clients. Then, as things started to open back up, my calendar quickly began to fill up. I am grateful for the “NO’s” and downtime because they allowed me to find my place as one of STL’s premier wedding and event coordinators.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I believe that having a business during The Pandemic was the biggest struggle, but I knew that staying positive and putting my couple first would lead to success.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?

Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
The most important lesson that I’ve learned is maintaining a work-life balance. My family is very important to me, plus keeping a work-life balance helps reduce stress and helps prevent burnout.
