Hi Marina and Shanice, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Velvet Room was born out of a shared passion for the wedding industry and years of collaboration. Before officially opening our doors, we had been working together for years, constantly inspiring each other and discussing our love for weddings. As we realized we had the same goals and motivations, the idea of combining our talents and efforts felt like the natural next step. We had always called on each other to help with different projects, and it became clear that together, we could create something truly special.
Before we even filed our LLC paperwork, we were already booking clients—proof that our vision resonated with others. That’s when we knew it was time to find the perfect location to bring Velvet Room to life. After much searching, we found our home in South City, St. Louis, and we couldn’t be more thrilled to share it with our clients.
Velvet Room is a space where creativity meets collaboration, and we’re dedicated to helping couples bring their dream weddings to life.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Generally it’s been pretty smooth. Of course it was a little of a learning curve starting a small business. But once we found our groove in running daily operations, we were able to master administration and better service our brides. We learn something new everyday on how to be a better business for our couples and for our artists and couldn’t ask for a better team.

Velvet Room specializes in creating beautiful hair and makeup for special events. Whether you’re a bride preparing for your big day with your bridal party, getting ready for a photoshoot, attending a company party, or interested in a fun makeup or hairstyling course, we are your go-to team! We take pride in our love for natural glam, versatile updos, and timeless Hollywood waves.
