Meet Ruwaida Alrammahi of Milano Kabob

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ruwaida Alrammahi

Hi Ruwaida , thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
We came to the United States in 2009. We are from Iraq. My parents passion is cooking My parents sold their deli that was located in South city about three years ago and we just wanted to do the it again share our authentic Iraqi cuisine dishes with the community.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I think our biggest challenge was opening right during the holidays, which is the slow season, but I think we will be OK. We just have to keep being positive.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
We specialize in Iraqi cuisine dishes. We are bringing a different style of Mediterranean food to St. Louis. There is a lot of Palestinian Syrian restaurants but there’s barely any Iraqi spots to try so we wanted to focus on authentic Iraqi dishes we also have cold pressed juices and smoothies

Do you any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
One of my childhood memories was watching my grandpa make amba sauce It is a traditional Iraqi sauce that is eaten mostly with falafels We are excited to have that on our menu.
