Hi Sarah and Julia, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourselves.
We met working as therapists in a community mental health agency and, after getting the opportunity to talk more, soon realized that we felt unable to provide clients with the services that would truly benefit them, largely due to how the agency was being run. In addition, we began to notice deficits in leadership and a level of incompetence that prevented us from utilizing our professional skills, abilities, and was contrary to our beliefs and values. Knowing that we could provide higher quality services and truly help people in the way they needed to be helped, we ventured out on our own, excited to practice freely.
We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Aside from the initial start-up requirements, we haven’t faced many obstacles. It was easier than expected to find an office space that would allow us to practice in an area that was accessible to a diverse population, and the people and businesses who helped us along the way made for smooth sailing.
