Meet Tim Fox

Today we’d like to introduce you to local entrepreneur, Tim Fox. He and his team share their story with us below:

“Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is older he will not depart” – Proverbs 22:6.

Squared Up Golf is a new entity under the 226 Sports umbrella, joining the Extreme Baseball & Softball Club, Turn 2 Sports Training, and Treign Performance. Our goal is to increase the passion for golf, the level of golf, and overall general fitness within our Academy’s region through a broader range of practice opportunities, higher-level training, exposure to proper competition levels, and relational-focused coaching.

Our story begins in early 2020, right before the pandemic hit. Owners Tim Fox and Brett Swip recognized a need in the sport of golf and the opportunity it presents to impact both adult golfers and aspiring youth golfers. We developed a brand that correlates with the goals of 226 Sports and the opportunity we had to develop adult and aspiring youth golfers in our area. We opened doors in February of 2021 and just recently celebrated our first full year of operation.

Over the past year, we have met hundreds of new faces, with ages ranging from 8 years old to 80 years old. Our indoor league had over 30 teams participate. We provide lessons for both adults and youth which has been a blessing getting to train and help local golfers. Lastly, we feature an all-inclusive Academy Golf Team led by local golf professionals. This all-inclusive Academy features indoor off-season training, TPI assessments, TPI curriculums, on-course practices, and tournament support.

It is our goal to help grow and support youth golfers helping them achieve the goals they have in place, whether it be making a High School team, playing at the collegiate level, or just becoming a better version of themselves! It is our goal inside Squared Up Golf to grow both the athletes and the person, holistically. Golf is a great game and teaches us several life lessons that we can take into our everyday lives, impacting those around us.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Of course, the pandemic threw a small wrench into our plans, but luckily the good Lord blessed us with the ability to pivot and adjust.

We are cleaning up processes and systems within our doors in hopes of providing the best experience possible to our customers and athletes. We continue to have a grown mindset and are striving to improve each and every day.

It has been an awesome year one and I cannot wait for a prosperous and better year 2!

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
Personally, I began working with 226 Sports under our Extreme BSC and Turn 2 Sports Training entities in late 2013. Our club had about 10 total teams. Fast forward almost 10 years later and we now serve 40 teams and over 650 families on a weekly basis. I was fortunate enough to coach the same club baseball team from 2014 through 2021, graduating off over 15 players to the college level.

It is not those on-field achievements that I am most proud of though, but the lifelong relationships I have built with players and families and the lifelong bond we will have. I pride myself on the ability to holistically grow athletes and the relationships created through the sports we all enjoy. I am extremely lucky with the players and families I was able to impact and look forward to watching these guys compete at the collegiate level.

While I am still involved with the Extreme Baseball & Softball Club, I am now moving into a bigger role with 226 Sports, specializing in Growth and Expansion for all entities under our 226 Sports umbrella. We have big plans to expand into new markets and look forward to the opportunity to impact new families and athletes!
