Meet Tracy Wallin

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tracy Wallin.

Hi Tracy, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
When I graduated college with a Fine Arts degree, I had no plans of becoming a professional photographer. From there life took over and I was given the chance to apprentice with a local photographer that was willing to show me the ropes. I got to see what it was like turning photography into a career, which I never considered at the time. During this period of my life, a lot of my friends were getting married and I was able to see how much of an impact having a good photographer can make on your wedding day. Shortly thereafter I started Tracy Wallin Photography and I have not looked back since. I feel empowered as a woman to own my own business, and even though it comes with its own unique set of challenges I take pride knowing the memories I’ve helped my clients create will last a lifetime!

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Owning your own business is rarely a smooth road, and learning from my mistakes has always been something that I focus on. Often times the hardest part of running business personally is balancing time between my family and work. Having two young children and running a business puts organization front and center to make sure that I’m taking care of things at home and also pleasing my clients.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
The two things that set me apart are the relationships with my clients and the additional services that my business offers to help compliment my sessions. During the pandemic I saw an opportunity, to flex my creative muscle, to craft products to further customize my clients’ sessions. I did this specifically with adding on customizable balloons and custom cakes. This allowed my clients to put their own personal spin on the session without having to do any extra work. Lastly, I form personal bonds with my clients and their children which really helps us to get the most out of our time. Having these kinds of relationships allows them to be relaxed and really enjoy our time together and the pictures they receive.

Who else deserves credit in your story?
A lot of the credit goes to my friends and family who have always been there to support me financially, emotionally, or spiritually. Photography has long hours, busy seasons, and lots of weekends so I am lucky to have a support system to fall back on. Professionally I am very thankful for the team that I work with every day. This includes the second shooters, the web designers, even the vendors that I have met during my time in the industry. Being able to lean on a team that you can trust really gives me the confidence that I need to grow and get better every day!
