Today we’d like to introduce you to Andrew Aloisio.
Hi Andrew, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself
I started with an Industrial Design Degree at the University of Technology. I was always passionate about Design and Art. My motivation came from solving problems through invention and aesthetic. Engineering with an artistic interpretation I guess you could call it.
I always saw business as being fluid in a way that I would go into many different areas of expertise and industries. It was about learning as much as possible and taking from one industry and expanding these ideas and solutions into another.
These would include industries in; product design, architecture, construction, technology and startups, social infrastructure, skincare innovation, and recently NFT’s
I have always understood the power of knowledge and communication as instrumental to growth, and have always pursued learning and course work to grow my capabilities and mindset. I have in the past won design and innovation awards. I have also leveraged my world travel to position myself into learnings and meeting various experts around the world that have shaped my vision.
Today I am involved in a number of vocations and initiatives. My pursuit is all about being future focused and involving myself in as many future focused industry changing initiatives as possible.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
If you can find me a smooth road then please show me the way!!! No, it has not been a smooth road. There are two main factors that I have identified in myself whilst navigating the path. To find your way externally and professionally you also have to find your way internally and subconsciously.
My concepts and ideas have always been somewhat farfetched in the eyes of the observers. This comes with a fair amount of rejection and criticism. This however has also forced me to back myself and try and fail on my own merits. This is where the best learnings can come from.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am foremost a designer, an artist, and a creative, but I also understand now how to blend these traits into any of my professional pursuits. What sets my work apart from others is my willingness to go to the edge conceptually and explore ideas more extreme. Even though these may be tempered in the final outcome, I take satisfaction in knowing I pushed my creative self. This I would say is my signature style.
I more recently created a sports skincare brand (SKINX www.skinx.com.au) born out of professional sports and designed for athletes. This startup involved me creating everything from branding design, product formulation, packaging, advertising, and marketing. Just recently I also launched the brand into the world of NFT’s, collaborating with professional athletes from around the world!
I see this as my creative edge, bringing together far reaching concepts, without becoming afraid of breaking the mold!!
I love combining real world products with tech. I believe there are so many opportunities in combining the traditional with the future.
Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
Selling yourself and your ideas is the most important skill one can develop. You need to get out there and communicate, communicate, communicate your ideas, designs, and offerings.
It took me a while to understand how important this was.
You need to ask yourself… why is anybody going to be interested in you or your ideas??? then you need to go out and make them interested through your sell.
