Rising Stars: Meet Jamie Merideth of Rochester Il

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jamie Merideth.

Jamie Merideth

Hi Jamie, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I started Astrofix in 2016, after playing some solo acoustic shows. I missed being in a band. So, I ran an ad in Craigslist, talked to some friends/ family, and got a band together. We played acoustic shows as we built up the band, then moved to electric shows. After a couple lineup changes, we were ready to record our 1st album. After a couple more albums, playing regionally, and playing bigger venues, we went through a couple more lineup changes, and landed on the 4-piece we are today.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Well, as mentioned, we’ve been through numerous lineup changes. That’s normal for any band, though, really. Getting booked in the right venues, to put yourself in front of the right possible fans, is always the biggest challenge. We’ve been really happy with most of the venues we’ve played, though. And, we’ve gotten to know which venues around us are the best for us.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
We are an original band, so a lot of our time is spent writing. We specialize in “vibe” rock. We always try to elicit an emotional response from our songs and performances. Our sound will range from classic to modern, and alternative rock.

Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
The trend in music has been streaming, but there is still a great scene for physical media as well. The buzz word in the music world, currently, is AI. I think live performance will be what shines through that, though.
