Rising Stars: Meet JaVon McBride

Today we’d like to introduce you to JaVon McBride, owner of Lablworldwide LLC.

Hi JaVon, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Sports and fitness have always been a passion of mine. So much so that I broke the generational military line in my family to play college football and study exercise and sports studies at Benedictine University.

In 2017, I began to share my sport and supplement-free fitness journey with the world through Instagram. I slowly started making my transition from athlete to entrepreneur.

What started as a simple hashtag [#liftabetterlife] – empowering others to lift life physically gradually grew into a way of life, a tattoo & as of June 2020 an official black-owned business [Lablworldwide LLC], private owned & operated. Our humble mission is to encourage all people to come together as a whole as we aim to lift life in every aspect such as mentally, spiritually, or emotionally, rather than just physically.

Lablworldwide LLC (Lift A Better Life Worldwide) is a way of life – a worldwide community of individuals that identify with our four pillars of life; [Unity, Faith, Equality, Empowerment]. Our 1of1 unity logo portrays the message to the fullest extent as it shows multiple cultures in one hand lifting the world (life).

As a millennial, I firmly believe we are shaping the world as we know it and this is my way of building my own black history.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
In order to progress you have to step outside of your comfort zone!

My comfort zone was on a field, in a gym, etc. Transitioning into the entrepreneurial world was me being in that uncomfortable state, due to the fact that I had no knowledge of running a business, nor did anyone in my immediate family.

My biggest struggle was becoming a designer, creative, marketing strategist, and website designer, and learning many more roles within one year to be able to operate my company. I am still learning new things each day to perfect my crafts.

With progression comes failure, at some point. I take it in stride and keep pushing for the simple fact that the only person to blame for anything related to Lablworldwide falls 100% on my shoulders. As a “one-man-band” I take pride in each item made/sold, every soul touched, and every mind changed on the views of inequality.

I am a millennial activist that will not only demand change for ALL people but will be remembered as the one who opened many more eyes and empowered those who have a voice or platform to use it to change history.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
My thought process and hands-on mentality have always allowed me to be creative, which makes me so proud to have created such a culturally positive logo for my company. I take so much pride in this logo because I truly believe it is the face of the change that our world has been needing.

I use my logo to spread the message of the 4 foundational pillars of success Lablworldwide was built on. I love ALL people and have always been open-minded about learning about different cultures, which sets me apart from most because I do see color!

I believe it is important because to see color is to see one’s history and to see/know one’s cultural history is how we come to a better understanding and unify. It may not be the most intention when saying “I don’t see color”, but I believe that is an easy way of one choosing not to acknowledge the hardships or successes of different cultures.

Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
I find happiness in being the best role model for my youngest siblings that I can.

There are many things I have done that they can be proud of and being the one they look up to, that’s what makes me happy. Though I feel I haven’t done anywhere near what I would like pertaining to goals and accolades, they see me on the straight and narrow and follow suit.

Happiness to me can be gone in a second, but you control when it comes and goes.
