Rising Stars: Meet Jeffery Brock

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jeffery Brock.

Hi Jeffery, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My Father was a barber of 25+ years. As a kid, I was always at the shop, watching my dad cut hair and helping around if I could. I used to see my dad work day in and day out for years. Before I went to college, my dad gave me a set of clippers so I could start grooming myself. I took those sets of clippers and started cutting my teammate’s and friends’ hair in the dorm rooms. When I turned the clippers on, I was a natural. I had never physically cut hair before then, but it came from watching my dad over the years and seeing how he would cut hair. Eventually, me cutting on campus began to grow, and I started charge for haircuts.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Choosing the path of a barber/artist was not an easy journey, but I can tell you that it was worth every step. Some of the struggles I’ve dealt with were building up clientele initially and staying motivated. But as I began to get better at my craft, gaining more clients became easier. Lastly my focus began to shift more to giving a high class experience overall!

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am known for capturing the public eye through beautiful visuals of my work and aesthetics through social media. I am most proud of currently that I can still do what I love. I love servicing people and being able to impact them through a haircut. What sets me apart from others is that I offer an experience. “THE DRIZZY EXPERIENCE” and how I can build relationships with people. I believe those 2 are very important and will create longevity in the hair industry.

What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
What I like the most about St.Louis is the history that still lives here, even through the city’s reconstruction. The unique mom-and-pop restaurants and even the new small businesses. What I like least is the gap between Saint Louis and bigger cities such as Los Angelos, Miami, and New York. I would love for Saint Louis to become a more connected city!
