Rising Stars: Meet Leigh Ann Wells

Today we’d like to introduce you to Leigh Ann Wells.

Leigh Ann Wells

Hi Leigh Ann, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’m a spiritual medium and abstract artist from Louisiana, and the owner of Abstract-Soul. There’s no leaving work behind in my line of work, because it’s a part of who I am. So, my home base is wherever I happen to be. Although my roots run deep in South Louisiana, I consider St. Louis my second home.

I have been communicating with Spirit since I was a little girl. Yet, it still took many years before I was ready to accept that my soul’s purpose was to be a medium. Before then, I would only share my gift with my closest family and friends. When I finally released the fear, doubt, and insecurities I held around my gift, the universe opened to me in ways I never imagined. Spirit guided me to blend my art and my gift and to be seen. I wasn’t sure what that meant then, but I had faith that the answers would come, and that they did.

My dear friend and mentor, Michelle Blazier, had rented an office space in town and told me she felt the back office was meant for me. She said I could sell my art in the space and use the back office to give readings. This would provide me with a familiar and comfortable space to see clients instead of meeting people in their backyards, over the phone, or in restaurants, as I had been doing for several years prior. I accepted Michelle’s gracious offer and started my business, Abstract-Soul. Though ill-advised by my family and friends, I decided not to charge for readings. I relied solely on donations to make ends meet for the first three years I was in business. I felt very strongly about this decision, and I feel that it was a true test of my faith.

Over the following three years, I grew a lot, both professionally and personally. I started doing group readings, teaching spiritual workshops, and became a certified yoga teacher and meditation practitioner. Michelle and I started the Spiritual Highways Podcast, largely based on the advice and guidance given in the readings. We felt sharing this insight would help others gain and apply a new perspective to their life. During this time, I would also have my first solo art exhibition and hone my skills as an avid hiker, backpacker, and cross-country adventurer.

In January 2022, I had the opportunity to lease my own space. This allowed me to have an office and the room to teach classes, paint, and have a gallery to display my work. These past two years in my office have helped me gain great independence and confidence in myself on all levels. It has been blessing and a safe harbor of comfort and peace for my clients as well as myself.

We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Things were the most challenging before I accepted my gift. I was doing what I felt I was expected to do based on social norms instead of doing what I was being guided to do. After I finally gave myself permission to follow my heart and let go of the expectations others had for me, everything fell into place as it was meant to be. So, I would say that the only struggle I truly faced was getting out of my way.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar, what can you tell them about what you do?Having a spiritual reading is not for everyone; however, it can be life-changing for those who feel led to do so. That’s a responsibility I do not take lightly. I only open myself to receive validation, divine guidance, and insight that will serve the highest good, and only from souls in God’s white light. Spirit knows our past and the source of the obstacles keeping us from finding peace. It’s amazing how one simple change of perspective can profoundly affect someone’s life. I never try and convince anyone to have a reading as I feel that those who I am meant to meet with will be diviningly guided to do so.

In 2021, I felt led to write a book to help people navigate their spiritual journey. Much of the available information can be intimidating and overly complicated, leaving a person confused, misinformed, or even misled. My book offers an abundance of tools that are straightforward, easily understood, and practical. I can’t wait to share it with the world; undoubtedly, it will have a positive impact. My life and career are everchanging. Let’s say I’ve often repeated the words “allow the uncomfortableness of change to be my sign of growth”!

Starting in 2024, I’ll do all my readings virtually. This will allow me to travel and offer group readings all over the country while finishing the book, which will be a primary focus during my upcoming trip to North Carolina, where I’ll spend the remainder of winter in the mountains.

Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
The interest and acceptance in spirituality, has already grown quite a bit just in the past ten years.  So, I feel that as more people begin to open and feel safe to explore themselves on a deeper level, they will naturally gravitate towards the work that I, and others do.
