Rising Stars: Meet Paris Turner

Today we’d like to introduce you to Paris Turner.

Hi Paris, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
My story starts when I was a little girl playing with Barbies. I would always love styling them in different outfits. I would color coordinate and put on little runway shows with them. I have been in love with fashion since I was little. As I got older I begin to buy my own clothes and play with my own style.

I would read magazines to get inspiration for looks and I absolutely loved the shows “Project Runway” & “America’s Next Top Model” they inspired me also. In my teens, I worked in retail and I got such a rush for putting together looks for customers, seeing customers leave the store with a huge grin on their faces because I helped them find the right look while making them feel confident in their purchase left me with a true sense of satisfaction.

I then realized my true passion for fashion & styling. I modeled for a bit in my 20’s so the fashion scene always remained on the radar. Everything kinda changed when I had children, I scaled back on my dreams for a bit but in 2020 I decided to start back getting into the world of fashion within my city. I started networking meeting with some amazing people and finding out what my purpose is.

2021, I took a Styling Class and went through a few weeks of learning the ropes as a stylist. Even though I was already styling friends and family on the side I wanted to learn more about the profession of it. 2021 is when I took the leap and decided to start my brand Paris J. The Style Pharmacist.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
So far it hasn’t been so bad.

I’m a mother of 3 beautiful children so I’m finding a balance between mom life and entrepreneur life. I’m still learning and still growing my brand. My biggest struggle I would say is not being so known in my city.

But I have plans in changing that. I want to be one of the first names that come to mind when people are looking for a personal or family stylist.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
So I’m a personal & family stylist. I specialize in styling my clients to meet their styling needs for events, travel photoshoots, interviews, etc. I’m known for bringing positive energy to all my clients.

An energy that makes them feel confident that I’m the woman for the job. I’m proud of myself because I have always had my eyes set on being a stylist and I’ve never let that go astray.

What I would say that sets me apart from others is my work ethic and the vibe I bring to my clients. I’m very professional and I make sure my clients can trust me. I also like to think outside the box and have fun with styling.

Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
So I absolutely love family styling so I have plans on taking that to a whole different level when it comes to your average family shoots.

I want my brand to be the first thing that comes to people’s minds when they are looking for a stylist. I want to help change the narrative of fashion in my city because St. Louis is so underrated.
