Angelica Cunningham shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.
Good morning Angelica, it’s such a great way to kick off the day – I think our readers will love hearing your stories, experiences and about how you think about life and work. Let’s jump right in? What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
One thing that is making me happy is journaling. I used to journal everyday, and I am now returning to that. It brings me so much peace, clarity! I also love music. I use it as my escape from reality, lol I don’t know if that’s good or bad.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Angelica, I am the owner of LchCreates. I create custom jewelry, hats, t-shirts, and accessories. The letters in my business name stand for, Let’s Create Happiness, as well my kids names Leah, Chase, Hayden. Every piece I create is custom, with no duplicates ever. I am constantly working on new accessories and, new designs to bring my customers bold fresh looks..
Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. What part of you has served its purpose and must now be released?
The part of me that has served its purpose and must now be released is fear. Growing up as an only child, I was alone a lot. I’ve always had social anxiety and always feared new settings and meeting new people. It was safe and comfortable being to myself, and I struggle with relationships. That part of me is no longer welcome! I learned to not fear the new opportunities that life has for me!
Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
I am a teacher, and when I first went back to the classroom, I really struggled with work life balance. It was almost a year that I didn’t create anything new and I felt like I lost my Mojo. I lost a lot of connections and clientele during that time. It made me want to give up my business completely, and I started to have doubts about myself. I had to dig deep and reignite that drive within myself.
Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? Is the public version of you the real you?
The public version of me is not the real me because typically I’m very quiet when I’m out in public. I’m not a very talkative person unless you’re someone very close to me. My close family and friends get the loud, funny, goofy me.
Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. Are you doing what you were born to do—or what you were told to do?
For me, this is a complicated question, because I feel like what we are supposed to be doing can change with time, age, or experience. I’m not sure if I believe that we’re supposed to do the same thing every day for the rest of our lives I believe that I was born to do exactly what I’m doing in this moment in my time on this Earth.
