An Inspired Chat with Deairra Freeman of St. Louis

We recently had the chance to connect with Deairra Freeman and have shared our conversation below.

Deairra , so good to connect and we’re excited to share your story and insights with our audience. There’s a ton to learn from your story, but let’s start with a warm up before we get into the heart of the interview. Would YOU hire you? Why or why not?
100% yes.
I’m the kind of person who leads with honesty and heart. Clients trust me because I’m real with them. No fluff, no pressure, just transparency and guidance every step of the way. In real estate, it’s never just about the money for me — it’s about the service and the impact I leave on every client and family I work with.
Yes, I might have a touch of ADHD, so my brain moves fast — but so do I! Tasks get done, deadlines are met, and you better believe I show up when it counts. I’m passionate, coachable, and always hungry to learn and grow.
Working with me means working with someone who truly cares, stays on top of things (even with a million tabs open), and makes the experience enjoyable. 🙂

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m Deairra! a full-time Realtor based in St. Louis with a background in the corporate world and a master’s degree in Human Resources. I thought I’d spend my life climbing the corporate ladder… until 2020 had other plans. Like many, I lost my job during COVID but looking back, it was a blessing in disguise. God clearly had a different vision for me, and I’m walking in it now.
Today, I’m a proud entrepreneur (still weird to say sometimes!), helping people navigate one of the biggest decisions of their lives — homeownership. As a mom to an amazing 11-year-old daughter, I understand how important stability, legacy, and smart decisions are. That’s why I’m passionate about educating my community, especially first-time homebuyers. I host free seminars every quarter, and honestly, I love them just as much as the attendees do!
Real estate has shown me there’s no limit — no ladder to wait on — just opportunities to create, grow, and exceed every goal I set. When I’m not showing homes or running events, you’ll find me traveling, planning my next food adventure, or checking out new restaurants (feel free to send recs — I’m always down to try something new!).

Next up on my journey: building passive income and creating long-term wealth — not just for me, but for those I serve

Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. Who taught you the most about work?
Hands down, my mom.
I was raised by a powerhouse of a single mom who worked multiple jobs just to make sure we had what we needed and somehow still made it look easy (even though I know now it wasn’t). Watching her hustle day in and day out taught me that hard work isn’t optional — it’s just what you do when people are counting on you.
When I started working, I naturally picked up two jobs too — not because I had to, but because that hustle was already in me. It’s second nature. That’s why I grind the way I do now. She didn’t just teach me about work — she showed me how to work with heart, purpose, and no excuses.

So yeah, I get it from my mama — hustle included.

Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Yes! All the time — let’s be real. I’ve definitely had those moments (sometimes full-on phases) where I found myself scrolling Indeed thinking, “Maybe a 9 to 5 wouldn’t be so bad after all.”
Being an entrepreneur requires a level of strength and resilience that people don’t always see — and while I carry that, I’m human. I’ve been in some dark places before, moments where the doubt was loud and the money was quiet.

But what keeps me going, even on those rough days, is God. He has never failed me. I’ll be honest, I struggle with my faith sometimes too. But every single time I’ve been down, He’s come through. He’s a miracle worker, even when I can’t see the outcome yet.

So yes, I’ve wanted to quit. But I trust God more than my fear. And that’s what keeps me moving forward.

Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. What’s a belief or project you’re committed to, no matter how long it takes?
Generational wealth
I’m building something bigger than me. My goal is to set my daughter (and any future kids) up so they don’t have to start from scratch or struggle the way I did. I want them to have options, opportunities, and the freedom to dream without limits. That’s what keeps me grinding — even on the tough days.

But it’s not just about my family. I truly want God to use me to be a blessing to others too. Whether that’s donating to a nonprofit, helping another family get on their feet, or pouring into someone who just needs a break — I don’t have all the details yet, but the vision is there.

I’m in this for the long haul, and I trust that as I keep going, God will continue revealing the “how.” But the “why” is already solid.

Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
That I was kind. That I was solid — someone you could count on, who showed up with realness, heart, and honesty. I want people to say I made their day better, even if it was just with a smile, some good advice, or a random joke that had them cracking up.

I hope they say I impacted their life in some way — big or small. That I helped them believe in themselves, buy their first home, or simply feel seen and supported when they needed it most.

And please — don’t forget to mention I was funny.

At the end of the day, I just want to be remembered as someone who made people feel good, inspired them to grow, and left the world a little brighter than I found it.
