We’re looking forward to introducing you to Dr. Imani Robinson. Check out our conversation below.
Hi Imani, thank you so much for taking time out of your busy day to share your story, experiences and insights with our readers. Let’s jump right in with an interesting one: What do the first 90 minutes of your day look like?
Prayer, meditation & reflection.
Sending out hundreds of encouragement to people i have been blessed to meet.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I am the Executive Director of Love In Action Inc a nonprofit organization that serves the under represented community in st louis and Illinois. Women, children, disabled veterans, seniors & families.
I am building a social enterprise Love In Action Health and Wellness featuring a state of the art, fda registered red light therapy bed.
To help support my community in Wellness as well as future employment opportunities.
The only minority owned Nonprofit organization with Redlight therapy in the region.
Located in the Soulard area.
Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. What relationship most shaped how you see yourself?
Besides my relationship with God, it would be my relationship with my husband.
He has always told me how he admired my humility as a servant . He seen and shared with me his view of watching how God designed me to love others .
He loves the love he sees between myself & my siblings.
Myself & my children myself & my community.
Myself & him.
He seen things in me, I didn’t really recognize as a “super power” per say. I only knew how to be a better God centered, over comer, not allow my past to bring bitterness but beauty instead, me.
His support has allowed me to be who God designed me to be fully & unapologetically.
Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
There were several times I wanted to give up. But most recently, it was watching my husband be in a position where he was being abused and taken advantage of for months!
I felt it was time for us to leave St. Louis, but God stepped in.
Showing me the spiritual resilience in my husband, his humility and strength.
He persevered through many attacks for the sake of serving a hurting community and serving them well. He showed bureaucracy, that love still wins!
It made me stronger. It made us stronger.
So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. Where are smart people getting it totally wrong today?
That relationships dont matter.
Its ok to thrive in business, get great positions climb the corporate ladder.
But without relationships, its an empty high.
Relationships are everything!
Relationships build character.
Relationships strengthens collaboration, bring accountability. Relationships build people. They build communities.
Relationships are everything.
Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. What do you think people will most misunderstand about your legacy?
I didn’t ask or desire to be in the public eye. To have so many hats. To be a community leader, a radio personality, a business owner, a trauma overcomer and spiritual force.
I didn’t choose to love the way that I do.
Pain, disappointments, failure for years seemed to be my life direction..
Truth is, they were the stepping stones to my divine destiny.
