Lindsay Zahner NBC-HWC shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.
Hi Lindsay, thank you for taking the time to reflect back on your journey with us. I think our readers are in for a real treat. There is so much we can all learn from each other and so thank you again for opening up with us. Let’s get into it: What do the first 90 minutes of your day look like?
Starting my day with intention has made a huge difference in how I show up for my clients. I wake up at the same time every morning and begin with a 5-minute gratitude meditation to ground my nervous system. After a warm shower and a few stretches, I make coffee and answer messages for about 20 minutes. Then I sit down to a high-protein breakfast, usually egg whites with cheese, whole-grain toast, and berries. It’s a simple routine that helps me feel calm, focused, and ready for the day!
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m Lindsay Zahner, founder of Sailor Health Coaching, where I help men and women aged 40+ build strength, confidence, and long-term health without extreme diets or burnout.
My approach blends evidence-based training with hormone support, so clients feel strong in their bodies rather than at war with them.
A big part of my mission comes from my own recovery journey. I learned firsthand how overwhelming fitness can feel when you’re injured or starting over. Now I focus on simple, sustainable habits that actually fit real life.
Right now, I’m expanding my online courses and coaching programs to help more people feel capable, resilient, and proud of their progress.
Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. What part of you has served its purpose and must now be released?
The part of my brain that tries to keep me “safe” by convincing me not to start something new. It’s the voice that treats uncertainty as danger and growth as risk. That part once protected me, but it no longer serves the life or business I’m building. I’m learning to thank it for its “help” and move forward anyway.
Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Oh yes—several times. Especially after the excitement of starting a business wears off and you’re stuck in the quiet middle where no one is clapping for you. That’s been the hardest part. What’s kept me going is learning to stack small wins and actually acknowledge them. Progress isn’t always loud or visible, but those small, consistent steps are what carry you through when motivation fades.
Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. Is the public version of you the real you?
Yes, absolutely. I made a promise to myself early on to lead with integrity. Especially on social media, I’m intentional about being real, empathetic, and sharing only research-backed information. I don’t feel the need to perform or exaggerate, because my goal has always been to genuinely help people improve their health and thrive. Showing up as myself makes the work more meaningful and more sustainable.
Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. Are you tap dancing to work? Have you been that level of excited at any point in your career? If so, please tell us about those days.
It might sound cliché, but any day I get to work with a client feels like that. I genuinely love celebrating wins with them, problem-solving together, and being part of their support system. When my partner overhears my coaching calls, he always comments on how much excitement and real passion he hears in my voice. That’s how I know I’m doing work that truly lights me up.
