We’re looking forward to introducing you to Regina Starks. Check out our conversation below.
Regina, it’s always a pleasure to learn from you and your journey. Let’s start with a bit of a warmup: Would YOU hire you? Why or why not?
Absolutely, I would hire myself. As an experienced and approachable life and relationship coach, I connect with clients through empathy, strong communication, and a non-judgmental attitude. My sessions foster trust, honesty, and accountability, empowering clients to take charge of their lives and relationships. Authenticity is at the core of my coaching; my character and actions consistently reflect who I am.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Regina Starks, and I am both a corporate leader and entrepreneur. I embarked on my entrepreneurial journey at the age of 18. Unlike the common perception that entrepreneurs aspire to leave corporate America, my ambition has consistently been to operate my own business while advancing within my corporate leadership career. I have a deep appreciation for entrepreneurship, as well as for the corporate sector. My passion lies in motivating and supporting others, fostering new leaders within organizations, and helping individuals achieve their desired lifestyles.
With over 20 years of experience in the healthcare industry, including 16 years in corporate leadership roles, my career trajectory has been shaped by key milestones. My initial exposure to leadership began in 1995 as a crew leader at a local Dairy Queen. It would be fourteen years later, before I enter an official leadership position within a healthcare organization. In 2018, I further advanced my qualifications by earning a master’s degree in leadership and organizational development from St. Louis University.
Throughout my career, there have been occasions when I had to pause my entrepreneurial pursuits, yet these ambitions remained a constant focus for me. In December 2008, I established Shoe Therapy Online, an enterprise dedicated to offering fashionable women’s footwear at accessible prices. Following the opening of two physical store locations in 2010 and 2012, the company transitioned back to an online platform with a relaunch in 2019.
It has been nearly three years since my previous interview with Canvas Rebel. I am pleased to announce the launch of my new venture, Regal Star Enterprises LLC, a Limited Liability Company established on July 5, 2025. Regal Star Enterprises is a corporation operating across multiple sectors, including coaching services, hair care products, candles, children’s apparel, and notary services.
I am confident in my ability to achieve the life I desire, and I approach my goals with intention and commitment. My actions are guided by my values and motivations, allowing me to pursue my ambitions with purpose.
Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. What part of you has served its purpose and must now be released?
I would have to say every part of me that isn’t the woman sitting before you today. I attribute my growth to each prior version of myself; none of whom are present in the person I am today. Every previous stage of my life has served a necessary purpose and has since been set aside. The 16-year-old who made adult decisions without a full understanding of adulthood has moved on. The 18-year-old who expected her plans to proceed without challenge is no longer here. The Regina of her twenties, embracing life while seeking purpose and learning from mistakes, has also transitioned. In my thirties, as I continued to mature, I recognized that personal development is ongoing—a journey with no endpoint. That earlier version, too, has been released.
The Regina before you now is blessed, humbled, confident, self-aware, resilient, and demonstrates integrity. Each past version of myself contributed meaningfully to my present identity. While I remain grateful for their influence, I acknowledge that their chapters have concluded.
What fear has held you back the most in your life?
Throughout my career, public speaking has been a significant challenge that impacted various aspects of my professional development. If not for this obstacle, I would have pursued opportunities as a motivational speaker. During my time in college, I withdrew from the public speaking class twice to avoid presenting in front of others. On one occasion, I was invited to recite a poem before a church congregation, but my nervousness made it difficult to deliver the reading effectively. Reflecting on these experiences, I recognize how fear hindered my progress. Even as an established corporate leader, public speaking remains an unfavorable task.
Despite preparatory efforts, organization, and training, improvement only came when I advanced in my career and observed experienced leaders addressing audiences. This exposure led me to understand that self-criticism and an excessive pursuit of perfection were barriers to my effective communication. My journey demonstrates that being an introvert does not preclude one from inspiring or motivating others; rather, meaningful impact can be achieved on varying scales. I am grateful for the unique path that has allowed me to contribute and support others in ways that align with my strengths.
Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
After experiencing the loss of my older sister and father, I have found comfort in cherishing the memories we created together. The unexpected passing of my sister served as a profound reminder of the brevity of life, prompting me to approach each day with renewed appreciation. Following my father’s death, my home naturally became the central location for family gatherings, where I value our time spent taking pictures, enjoying movie nights, hosting family sleepovers, participating in social media challenges, and organizing family vacations.
As our family continues to grow, it is easy to become focused on individual routines. To maintain strong family connections, I intentionally prioritize Sunday dinners (even if not every week) and holiday celebrations. My greatest satisfaction comes from witnessing my family’s joy—whether it is the laughter filling the room, the bustling kitchen as everyone serves themselves, or the photographs that capture these special moments to share with future generations.
Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
That I was everyone’s personal cheerleader. I would like to be remembered as someone who consistently encouraged and supported others. My hope is that people would reflect on the positive influence I had in their lives. I would want those whose paths, I have crossed, share that I aimed to inspire and uplifted them, even if it was a one-time conversation. I aspire others to describe me as genuinely invested in their success, always willing to offer guidance and support to help them achieve their goals.
