An Inspired Chat with Sean Shannon of Saint Louis City

We recently had the chance to connect with Sean Shannon and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Sean , thank you for taking the time to reflect back on your journey with us. I think our readers are in for a real treat. There is so much we can all learn from each other and so thank you again for opening up with us. Let’s get into it: What do you think is misunderstood about your business?
The biggest misunderstanding is that my brand is just about fashion or clothing. SeanMadeIt is really about storytelling and transformation — turning everyday materials and experiences into something meaningful and wearable. People often see the finished product but don’t realize how much thought, craftsmanship, and purpose goes into each design. My work isn’t just about style; it’s about showing that creativity can rebuild, reimagine, and inspire confidence.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Sean Shannon, the creative mind behind SeanMadeIt — a brand built on craftsmanship, storytelling, and individuality. I’ve always believed that fashion is more than clothing; it’s a reflection of emotion, transformation, and confidence. Every design I create carries intention — from the stitching to the story behind it.

Right now, I’m expanding SeanMadeIt beyond design by stepping further into styling and creative direction, curating full visual experiences that merge art, fashion, and identity. I’m also working on launching my own pop-up shop — an immersive space where people can connect with my work in person and experience the world of SeanMadeIt firsthand. My journey has taken me from magazine features to runways like New York Fashion Week, and I’m excited to keep redefining what independent creativity looks like in today’s fashion world.

Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. What was your earliest memory of feeling powerful?
This might sound a little crazy, but I remember a time back in 9th grade when I was known as the class clown. I loved making people laugh and keeping the energy in the room alive. One day, my teacher pulled me aside and said, “You have too much control over the class — anything you do, they laugh or it’s all eyes on you.” At the time, I didn’t realize it, but that was the first moment I understood the power of presence.

That moment stuck with me because it showed me how energy, influence, and individuality can shift a whole room. It wasn’t just about being funny — it was about knowing how to connect, capture attention, and move people’s emotions. Looking back, I see that same spark in what I do now through SeanMadeIt — using creativity, style, and storytelling to command attention and inspire others in a positive way.

When did you last change your mind about something important?
About a month ago I was chosen to be a designer for STL Black Fashion Week. It’s like the New York Fashion Week but for Saint Louis. That’s a big opportunity for anybody here on the fashion scene but i had to drop out of the show due to personal reasons. They put on an excellent show too, sucks I couldn’t be apart of it. I’d love to work with them again on another collaborative project.

I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. What’s a belief or project you’re committed to, no matter how long it takes?
Making music. Most people don’t know I started off making music i wasn’t always “SeanMadeit the fashion designer”. I made my first song in 2018 a remix to “Vanessa Carlton A Thousand Miles”while I was still in highschool. I dropped a mixtape in 2021 but I removed it from all streaming platforms a few months later due to me being a “perfectionist”. About a month ago I told myself I have to get back to my roots. I’ve already done so much within the Fashion Industry why not start my next Calling. Especially if it’s something I’m very passionate about.

Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: When do you feel most at peace?
When I’m alone by myself.
