An Inspired Chat with Timothy Moore

We recently had the chance to connect with Timothy Moore and have shared our conversation below.

Timothy, so good to connect and we’re excited to share your story and insights with our audience. There’s a ton to learn from your story, but let’s start with a warm up before we get into the heart of the interview. What is a normal day like for you right now?
Most of my days start before the sun comes up. I’m usually awake around 5 a.m., hitting the gym and taking some quiet time for myself before the house gets busy. Then it’s dad mode—getting my babies ready and dropped off to school. I share parenting week by week, so every other week the house is filled with laughter, backpacks, and small voices asking a million questions. After drop-off, I shift into work mode: early meetings, production projects, or whatever’s waiting for my focus. Afternoons are for clients or a mid day reset, and then it’s back to pickups when it’s my week. Evenings mirror the mornings—on my days with them, it’s family at the table, homework, play, and winding down together; on the off weeks, it’s quieter, space to reset and prepare for when the house is full again. By 9 or 10 p.m., I’m usually recharging for the next day.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Timothy J. Moore, though many know me as T.Moore. I’m a creative director and experience specialist, and the founder of The DOERHOUSE Company, a creative agency dedicated to championing Black culture through content, brands, and experiences. For more than a decade, I’ve worked across photography, film, design, and event production—most notably building Saint Louis Black Fashion Week™, which just celebrated its 10-year anniversary.

What makes my work unique is the intersection of culture and imagination. I’m passionate about creating space where underrepresented voices are centered, not overlooked, and where creativity isn’t just about aesthetics but about impact and community. Right now, I’m focused on growing DOERHOUSE into a hub for ideas, talent, and collaboration, while also curating experiences through my hospitality brand, The Guestlist—an intimate event experience designed to bring real human connection back to our communities.

Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. Who were you before the world told you who you had to be?
Before the world told me who I had to be, I was just a curious kid with a big imagination and a love for creating. I didn’t see limits—I just saw possibilities. I was sketching ideas, telling stories, and finding ways to turn nothing into something. That same spirit is still in me today. Life, expectations, and responsibilities shape us, but at my core I’m still that boy who believed he could build worlds and make them real.

Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Yes—more than once. Building a creative career while balancing real life hasn’t always been easy. There are seasons where the weight of responsibility, financial pressure, and personal challenges make me question if it is worth continuing. But every time I get close to giving up, something reminds me why I started—whether it’s my kids, my community, or simply the belief that what I’ve been gifted to create will live well beyond my earthly existence. Those moments teach me that resilience isn’t about never wanting to quit—it’s about finding a reason to keep going anyway.

Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
My friends would probably say I’m an old soul, I can never sit still and I’m always dreaming. They’d also say I’m loyal, dependable, and pretty laid-back—someone you can just hang out and have fun with. I try to make sure people feel seen and valued, but I don’t let awards or recognition define me. At the end of the day, it’s about what I can build and leave behind for my kids and the people around me. Early in my life, my dad would always ask me, what will you do with your dash? Now I see that everyday I’m adding to that answer.

Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: When do you feel most at peace?
I feel most at peace when I’m in nature—fishing, watching the sunrise, and just hearing the world in its rawest form. Early mornings like that give me space to think, reset, and appreciate the simple things. There’s a quiet in those moments that I rarely find anywhere else.
