Check Out Allison Norfleet Bruenger’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Allison Norfleet Bruenger. Them and their team share their story with us below:

Allison L. Norfleet Bruenger has loved art all of her life. She studied art throughout her childhood and was a graduate of Cass Technical High School in her native Detroit, Michigan. She received a scholarship to attend the Columbus College of Art and Design in Columbus, Ohio. Allison received her Bachelor of Fine Art in Retail Advertising with a Fashion Illustration emphasis.

In December of 2002, she married her childhood sweetheart James K. Bruenger. They moved to St. Louis, Missouri so he could pursue better opportunities within his life. She attended Maryville University in St. Louis where she received a Bachelor of Arts in Metalsmithing / Jewelry Design in May 2008. She feels this line of studies opened up a whole new area of creativity to give her collectors, even more, to choose from.

Throughout the years Allison has participated in a variety of art shows, gallery representation, and exhibitions throughout the Midwest. As time progressed, Allison honed in on her skills in Mixed Media Jewelry and Assemblage

Since her time at school, she has strived to become a viable and relevant part of the Missouri art community. She is a Juried Member and Board Member of Best of the Missouri Hands, a member of the Society of Midwest Metalsmiths, and a Juried Member of the Greater St. Louis Art Association. These wonderful organizations have helped her broaden her horizons in the Metro St. Louis and Missouri art community.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Finding enough time to create all the concepts that I have in mind. There are not enough hours in a day.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m a Mixed Media Jewelry and Fine Craft Artist. My goal is to create truly distinctive wearable art designs that lift the spirits and inspires the soul. I create mixed media jewelry that combines my Original Drawings, Paintings, Gemstones, Artisan Lampwork Beads & Fretwork in Sterling Silver, Copper and Brass along with other Materials using Cold Connection Methods. I use lighter weights in my materials so that my jewelry is comfortable to wear yet becomes stunning creations.

Each of my main designs are “Retired” as soon as the piece “Finds a Great Home” so that only that person will own that special design. I also create many smaller lines such as creative Bracelets, Cuffs, Hand Fabricated Wire Earrings and Hand Drawn Resin and Metal Earrings that accompany my main neckwear collection. From my detailed drawing of the piece to the hand fabricated one of a kind designs, I want to create truly unique pieces of wearable art for each of my collectors.

I have also begin to create a series of Mixed Media Jewelry and Assemblage creation. This Adornment and Assemblage series displays snapshots in time that house miniature wearable pendants that can be removed and worn to bring nature’s beauty to one’s everyday life. These wearable creations can then return to their place within these mixed media wall creations.

All of my creations have the concept of “True Wearable Art” at its core.

We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
Finding homes for my creations where I can share the joy of art with my patrons. I love when my customers truly enjoy my works and acquiring my pieces to fulfill their love of art and creativity.
