Today we’d like to introduce you to Amp Trop.
Hi Amp Trop, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My music speaks for itself, I’m what the city, the world needs. I just dropped a music video in March that gained over 40,000 views on my channel with lines like “I’m so St. Louey but this blunt right here is so Cali, she ain’t used to sh## thought these were Adidas but they’re Bally. “ (Search Amp Trop – Tick Beatbox Freestyle ), I then followed up with the mixtape titled “Dem City” (out now on all platforms) which I titled it that to bring awareness on the opioid epidemic in St. Louis.
Also, I speak on relationship issues and struggling to adapt from the trap of fast money life to living off only a check from a legal job, in songs like “Still Smokin”. I say lines like, “Remember it was 300 just to get ya hair laid, now I’m short when the rent paid, that was them Gs for the 20 days, I keep losing jobs I ain’t got paid in like 20 days”.
Right now, I’m working on my next project and will be dropping two singles in the next upcoming weeks and one of the singles has a “So So Def Artist on it.” I expect these records to shed light on St. Louis Young Artists and we can rap about things other than shooting and killing. We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
One struggle I had was trying to balance everyday life with chasing my dream. I recently gained full custody of my child which was a lonely dark road. I was blessed to have my manager (Kerri Lurie) along with me to see how difficult it was for a black man going against the child system. I would’ve felt less of a father achieving my dream but having my household in shambles.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m a music artist and I also have my own publishing company: Always Make Profit Music Group. What sets me apart from others is not only my talent in my unique sound of music but also my work ethic. I literally record almost every day and as well as working on my physical body going to the gym 5-6 times a week.
Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
My team is important to my success. Right now, I have an elite manager (Kerri Lurie) and we’re working with one of the best music business-minded DJs in Dj Tab. Also, my producer/engineer, Wes Hill has helped me create my own sound as well as the best quality in the city.
