Today we’d like to introduce you to Andria Damrell – AD Images.
Hi Andria, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Hi Friend! Welcome to a little piece of my world. Just over here chasing sunsets from Lake Saint Louis, MO. I am a high-energy, fun loving soul who is head over heels for my main squeeze and a proud mama to three littles! Becoming a mom and craving to capture all the beauty and changes in my own family is what inspired me to pick up a camera in the first place. Fast forward to eleven years later and here we are!
I studied Psychology at Lindenwood University (where are my true crime people at!!!) I also played college volleyball and still continue to love being active and working out! I then went on to graduate school where I got my Masters in Healthcare Management and met my amazing husband. I worked in long-term care as a Nursing Home Administrator for 15 years, my love for old people runs real deep 🙂 Our family stays busy with lots of outdoor time, sports, church and running our own vacation rental business with locations in Gulf Breeze, FL and Branson, MO.
** hello cinnamon bread ** IYKYK!!
I am so blessed to be a part of documenting such amazing memories for families; capturing the moments that captivate your hearts and helping put a time stamp on our fast paced lives. I believe in making shoots easy, fun and enjoyable for all my clients (even the DADs!) Getting everyone dressed, ready, and to the shoot alive is hard enough already, so I like to keep it fun while doing it 😉 I’m a mom, I get it!
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Photography itself is an over saturated market where most people can name a handful of photographers they personally know of the top of their heads within seconds of being asked. This has been something I have witnessed in the highs and lows of building my business with others just like me all around, all the time. Many years in, as I grew wiser and older too of course, I felt so much more comfortable in who I am as an artist. I know I have been given gifts by the Lord to use for a much greater purpose and once I started shooting from that perspective it wasn’t a race any longer to be THE best or THE most booked. It is about purpose, vision, moments that I get to freeze in time for families for generations to come. This is what keeps me going and drives me to be the best I can be for my clients.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Photography is art. Plain and simple. What you see in a landscape verses what I may see is drastically different. That is what makes photos so beautiful. I always want to capture the photos you can HEAR. The ones that have sound. The giggles of the toddlers being chased by mom and dad, the sounds of the wind rushing through mom’s long flowing hair and dress, or even the temper tantrum of the smallest little member of a family. Those are the moments we don’t want to forget! I cherish this vantage point so much as a fellow momma to three kiddos. I get to show moms how beautiful and perfect they are to their people. Not a lot of people get to say that about their jobs! Outside of families which is my first specialty, I have fallen in love with aerial drone photos and videos over the last few years. Again, it’s all about your vantage point and this brings such new perspective. I love getting to see the beauty from the sky. I now have a large portion of my business that focuses on helping other business owners tell their stories from the sky. From pool companies, to roofers, to construction owners, to landscapers I get to show their efforts in before and after’s to ensure potential customers have confidence before hiring them for projects. I am LOVING this new phase of my business!
Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
I translate “luck” as blessing and favor from the Lord. Being a Christian business owner you rely so heavily on your faith and trust in “luck”, with lots and lots of it. I will never be able to outrun the undeniable favor, blessing and goodness that the Lord has placed on my business. It’s rooms where my name is getting mentioned when I don’t deserve it. Me getting hired for a job I am just underqualified for, again and again. It’s getting opportunities with other business owners I would have never met or come across on my own. That is the kind of favor I mean, and without it my business would be nothing. Glorying God in all of it never comes back void. Having a heart for serving others first by giving back to my community, and families in need that cannot afford family photos, even documenting non-for profit fundraising events just so more money can be raised for the cause. The more I can bless those around me with my talents and gifts, the more the Lord piles on with His goodness and faithfulness in my business.
