Check Out Awstyn Cochran’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Awstyn Cochran.

Hi Awstyn, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
When I was in high school, my dad preached over and over to me to get my real estate license. Out of pure rebellion and wanting to do my own thing, I disregarded his advice and direction. Here I am 15 years later, licensed and reveling in my career as a real estate agent, and my only regret was not listening to him and getting into this industry sooner! At the age of 23, I bought a house from a woman that was about to lose it in the St. Louis County annual tax sale. My fiance and I purchased the house, he renovated it, welcomed our first son in it, lived in it for 5 1/2 years. While on maternity leave from my full-time corporate job, I got my real estate license.

Then, six months later, that very house became the very first home I ever sold. EVER. I feel like all of those years of searching for my passion, my career destiny was right in front of me, but I just couldn’t see it! We sold the house and moved into an apartment, welcomed our second son and invested the money we made into purchasing real estate and started a trucking business. Fast forward three years later, I am becoming a top producer in real estate and a sought-after REALTOR in the STL area. I continue to help families buy and sell homes at an exponential rate! My passion is helping my community buy real estate as wealth-building tool, and I am doing just that!

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Getting started wasn’t exactly easy. I transitioned from an Executive Assistant to orthodontists to a brand new career in Real Estate, and I didn’t have a clue how to sell real estate! I had to really invest in my new craft and learn from the ground up. I am still learning and will continue to learn. My passion is definitely fueling my burning desire to become an industry leader in the St. Louis real estate market.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar, what can you tell them about what you do?
Aside from being a mother of two boys and a wife, I am a full-time Realtor with Dielmann Sotheby’s International Realty. I specialize in assisting first-time home-buyers with home purchases and home sellers in the STL metro area. I am known for my friendly, professional experience by clients and also for how I educate my clients along the way. Aside from that, I also own Forte Property Group, LLC.

FPG is a business I started in 2018, and we flip homes and have rental properties in the STL Metro area. I am extremely proud of Forte Property Group and the work we do. We specialize in bringing the old, ugly run-down homes and turning them into beautiful, habitable properties that the owner or renter can be proud of. We do that by using the best materials and craftsmanship. That makes each project special and makes the communities nicer as well.

What was your favorite childhood memory?
My absolute favorite childhood memory is me riding my bike all over Winfield, KS (the town I was born in before moving to Missouri in the 6th grade). I used to ride from one end of the town to the other with my best friend, Andy.
