Check Out Casey Moeslein’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Casey Moeslein.

Hi Casey, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I started my blog, The Styled Southerner, in 2020, right at the peak of the pandemic in April. I had always wanted to start a blog but could not find the time or the courage to do so. When the pandemic hit, and I had a lot of extra time on my hands, I knew it was the perfect time to pursue my dream. I did not have any experience creating a website or managing social media but each and every day I would take the time to learn. I had learned so much from when I first began my blog. It has taken a lot of trial and error to get to where I am today.

My blog first began as a fashion and lifestyle blog to showcase my love for fashion and shopping and other lifestyle tips. I am originally from New Orleans, so when thinking of a name, The Styled Southerner was the perfect name to show my love for fashion and my southern roots. After having the blog for a year, I have found that there is a large need to educate women on finance topics and career advice. I decided that I wanted to incorporate these topics into my blog posts. The Styled Southerner now is a platform that teaches ambitious girls how to save money, reach goals, and look good while doing it. It incorporates my love for fashion while also being a platform to educate women on important topics.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
A lot of things fell into place when creating The Styled Southerner. I was able to find the resources to create and grow my blog, join an amazing community of other bloggers, and share my passions with others. While a lot of things went well, there have been struggles along the way. At times, I have found it hard to stand out from other fashion bloggers. For this reason, I have found ways to incorporate other educational topics around career and finance advice. Furthermore, with social media changing everyday, I have had to quickly adapt to the changes. One thing I have done a lot more this year is making videos for reels or TikTok. It definitely put me out of my comfort zone, but after some time, I got used to the change.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
The Styled Southerner is a blog that teaches ambitious girls how to save money, reach goals, and look good while doing it. My goal for the blog is to create confident women that not only feel good in their skin but also can go into the workforce and be a leader within it. I share everything from fashion advice (gift guides, outfits, sales, etc.) to finance and career advice (how to write a resume, how to ace your interview, etc.) My goal for The Styled Southerner is to ultimately create a community of women that can help and encourage one another. I hope that when women visit my blog, they are left with a little more confidence and a positive outlook. Aside from my blog, I also get to work with some incredible brands on social media. I love working with brands that align with my brand and provide value for my followers.

Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
The most important lesson I have learned along the journey is to just have fun with it. Growing and improving the blog can get very overwhelming at times and you start to get boggled down with a list of things to do to improve your business. This leads to comparing yourself to others or wanting to call it quits. When I take that extra stress off my shoulders and stop reaching for perfection, it makes growing my blog a whole lot more enjoyable.
