Check Out Gabrielle Torres’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Gabrielle Torres.

Hi Gabrielle, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
It all started during my freshman year of high school when I experienced my first serious injury. I was told I had partially torn my rotator cuff, and physical therapy was recommended to see if surgery could be avoided. Long story short, I did avoid surgery, but that experience became my first real exposure to both physical therapy and chiropractic care. It had a lasting impact on my health and aligned closely with my interests. At that age, as we were asked to envision our future careers, I realized I could see myself developing the skills to help others in the same way.

I initially set my sights on becoming a physical therapist, and for the next eight years of school, that was the path I followed. Fast forward to the pandemic—a time we all remember with mixed feelings—that season of reflection led me to reconsider my direction. After months of contemplation and many conversations, I decided to apply to chiropractic school and was accepted to Logan University that same year.

During my time in school, my interests evolved tremendously. I went from seeing myself working primarily with athletes to developing a deep passion for family-centered care, with a special focus on women’s health and pediatrics. That shift has truly been one of the best decisions I’ve made. It’s incredibly fulfilling to serve a population that not only needs care but also deserves more providers who truly understand their unique needs and concerns.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
I don’t think the road to where I am now would have left me with the same level of gratitude if it had been smooth. The hard times are what shape us; they push growth, resilience, and perspective, and that process is an essential part of transformation.

Going through school during the pandemic came with its own set of challenges, and Logan’s curriculum is not for the faint of heart. But the challenges didn’t stop after graduation. Transitioning into practice, I stepped right into a demanding role that required me to learn quickly in not just clinical skills, but how to run the daily operations of a practice with a small team. Some days I wear a lot of hats, switching between patient care, administrative tasks, and managing social media to reach and educate people. I’m still refining those skills, but I’ve come to embrace that continual learning and stepping outside my comfort zone is what keeps me growing both personally and professionally.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
At The Wellness Way in St. Peters, I work as a chiropractor and health restoration coach, helping patients uncover the “why” behind their symptoms so they can truly heal rather than just get by. What first drew me to chiropractic care was its salutogenic philosophy, the idea of focusing on what creates health rather than chasing disease. That perspective shapes everything I do. I love showing patients how the spine, nervous system, and internal organs all work together, and how bringing those systems into balance can restore energy and function in ways people often didn’t think possible.

In our approach, we combine chiropractic care with advanced testing, personalized nutrition, and supplement support to look at the whole body as one connected system. Each piece—structural, chemical, and emotional—plays a part in how well we heal. I specialize in low‑force adjusting, women’s health, pediatric care, and digestive health. What I find most fulfilling is watching people regain trust in their bodies. Seeing a patient realize their health isn’t broken and that their body was built to heal is the best reminder of why I love what I do.

Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
I’ve been shaped by incredible mentors throughout my training. Doctors like Dr. Patrick Montgomery, Dr. Richard Cranwell, and Dr. Charles Portwood, just to name a few, were monumental in teaching me about chiropractic and how to truly care for patients.

Most importantly, my husband has been my rock through chiropractic school, our time running the office together, and as we look toward the future. His unwavering support has made every step possible. My patients have been my greatest teachers—their trust, their stories, and their breakthroughs have shaped me more than any course or conference. When someone comes back and says, “I finally feel like myself again,” that’s the validation that keeps me going. Success isn’t just mine, it’s ours.
